I, Isaac Dox of Waterford in the county of Saratoga and State of New York, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, but being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. That is to say, First I give and bequeath unto Laney Van Olinder, wife of Daniel J. Van Olinder and Peter Dox Devooe the sum of fifty dollars each. Secondly, I give and bequeath undo Maria Sheffer wife of Alexander Sheffer the sum of twenty-five dollars. Thirdly, I give and bequeath unto Clarissa Vanderwerken, the wife of Jacob Vanderwerker the sum of twenty-five dollars. Fourthly, I give and bequeath unto Isaac Devooe and Hannah Eliza Devooe, children of my eldest daughter, the sum of twenty five dollars each, to be paid to them when they arrive at the age of twenty one years, but in case of the decease of one or either of the four last named legatees, I will and order that the respective sum bequeathed to one or either of them so deceasing shall be equally divided between the remaining legatees of the above four last mentioned. Fifthly, I give and bequeath unto Sophia Row wife of Michael Row, and unto the lawful heirs of her body, the sum of one thousand dollars. I will and order that the above sum of one thousand dollars hereby bequeathed to the said Sophia Row shall be paid in notes and bonds. Sixthly, I give and bequeath unto my only son John Dox, all the residue and remainder of all my personal estate goods and chattels of what kind and nature soever together with all notes, bonds and mortgages of whatsoever name or nature. I hereby appoint Garrett Lansing of the town of Watervliet, county of Albany and John Dox Jr. of the town of Waterford in the county of Saratoga sole executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of May in the year of our Lord, One thousand Eight hundred and Seventeen. Be it remembered that on this thirtieth day of March, in the year of our Lord, One thousand, Eight hundred & twenty two, before me George Palmer, Esquire, Surrogate of said county personally came and appeared Lawrence Hardwick a subscribing witness to the preceeding instrument in writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Isaac Dox late of the town of Waterford, in said county, deceased, and being duly sworn did say, that he saw the said Isaac sign and seal the same and heard him publish and declare it to be his last will and testament and that at the time thereof he the said Isaac was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that he together with James Deland and Garret Hardwick subscribe their names to said will as witnesses in the presence of the testator and of each other. And be it also remembered that on the same day and year aforesaid, also came before said Surrogate John Dox, one of the executors in said will named and was duly sworn to the faithful execution and performance thereof.
