Know Ye, that at the village of Ballston Spa, in the county of Saratoga, before George Palmer Esq. Surrogate of said county, the last will and testament of Thomas Thompson, late of the town of Northumberland, in said county deceased, (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us. And the said deceased having whilst he lived, and at the time of his death, goods, chattles or credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering said will, and the granting, administration of all and singular the goods, chattles and credits of the said deceased and also the auditing, allowing and final discharging thereof doth belong unto us; the administration of all and singular the goods, chattles and credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his said will is granted unto Sidney Thompson and Thomas B. Thompson, the Executors in said will named, being first duly sworn, well and faithfully to administer the same, and also to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory, of all and singular the goods, chattles and credits of the said deceased and to render a just and true account thereof, when thereunto required. In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said surrogate to be hereunto affixed. Witness George Palmer Esq. Surrogate of said county at the village aforesaid, thirteenth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four, and of our Independence the forty eighth. George Palmer The last will and testament of Thomas Thompson, of the town of Northumberland, in the county of Saratoga, and state of New York. I, Thomas Thompson, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, and being of sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following; that is to say, First, I give and bequeath unto my sons John Thompson, Hugh Thompson, Ebenezer Thompson, Sidney Thompson, and Thomas B. Thompson, the sum of ten dollars each; to my daughters Catharine the wife of Nicholas W. Angle, thirty dollars; Betsey the widow of John P. Seely, twenty dollars; and Ann, the wife of Ira Martin twenty dollars, which sums shall be paid by my executors hereinafter mentioned, out of the personal estate of which I may die possessed within two years after my decease. Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife [Elizabeth Berry - transcriber's note] the one third part of all my real estate, to have and to hold to her during her natural life. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife, one cow and all my household furniture. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Lewis B. Thompson all the rest and residue of my personal estate, whatsoever after my just debts and legacies above mentioned, shall be paid. Item, I give and devise unto my sons Samuel B. Thompson and Lewis B. Thompson as tenants in common and their heirs and assigns forever, all my real estate consisting of the farm on which I now live, in Northumberland aforesaid, containing by estimation about one hundred and ten acres more or less, subject to the life estate of my widow aforesaid. Also, on condition that they shall maintain and support my two sisters, Sally and Ann after the manner in which they have lived with and been maintained by me during their natural lives or whilst they shall remain single & unmarried. Lastly, I hereby appoint my sons Sidney Thompson and Thomas B. Thompson Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty. Clark Saratoga County, be it remembered that on this thirteenth day April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four, before George Palmer, Esq. Surrogate of said county personally came and appeared Billy J. Clark one of the subscribing witnesses to the preceding instrument in writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Thomas Thompson late of the town of Northumberland in said county deceased and being duly sworn says that he saw the Thomas sign and seal the same and heard him publish and declare it to be his last will and testament and that at the time thereof he the said Thomas was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief. And that he together with Philander Doty and Mariah Dunham subscribed their names to said will as witnesses in the presence of the testator and of each other. George Palmer
