Will Book Vol. C Pages 133-136 Written: May 14, 1825 Recorded: September 17, 1825 Last Will and Testament of Christopher Wetsel In the name of God Amen I Christopher Wetsel of Schoharie in the county of Schoharie and State of New York considering the uncertainty of this life and being of sound disposing mind and memory Do make ordain and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First, Unto my beloved wife Margaret Wetsel I give and bequeath all my beds and bedding and household furniture, also all my horned cattle hogs, sheep and poultry. To my daughter Maria, wife of Jacob Wetherwax, I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to be paid to her by my executors herein after named within two years after my decease. To my daughter Elizabeth wife of John W. Brayman, I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to be paid to her by my said executors, within three years after my decease. To my daughter Margaret Wetsel I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to be paid to her said by my ^ executors within four years after my decease And to my daughter Caty wife of William C. Richtmeyer I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to be paid to her by my said executors within five years after my decease. I also give and bequeath to my said beloved wife Margaret Wetsel, the sum of fifty dollars to be paid to her by my said executors within four years after my decease. All the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal, I give devise and bequeath unto my three sons namely, Henry Wetsel, George Wetsel and Daniel Wetsel to be equally divided between them share and share alike and to their heirs and assigns forever And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said three sons Henry Wetsel, George Wetsel and Daniel Wetsel, Executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made. Thomas Butler Henry Hamilton John Burton State of New York Schoharie County: Be it remembered that on the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five personally appeared before me William Mann Surrogate of the county of Schoharie aforesaid, Henry Hamilton one of the subscribing witnesses to the will of Christopher Wetsel late of the town of Schoharie in the said county deceased, who being duly sworn declared, that he did see the said Christopher Wetsel deceased, seal and execute the instrument hereunto annesced and impressed with the seal of office of the said Surrogate, which siad instrument purports t be the last will and testament of the said Christopher Wetsel deceased being date the fourteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five that he heard him the said Christopher publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament that at the time thereof he the said Christopher was of sound and disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the said witness and that he together with Thomas Butler + John Burton the other witnesses to the said will did severally subscribe their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of the testator and of each other. In testimony whereof the said Surrogate hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal of office, this seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five William Mann Surrogate Letters Testamentary- The people of the State of New York by the Grace of God and independent, To all whom these presents may come or may concern, send Greet ing Know Ye, that at the town of Schoharie in the county of Schoharie on the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five before me William Mann Esquire Surrogate of our said county the last will and testament of Christopher Wetsel Deceased a copy whereof is herein approved to annesced was proved, and is now ^ [allowed-lined out] /allowed [of and-lined out] approved ^ of by us, and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death, goods chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the proving and registering the said will and grant- ing administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits, and also the auditing, allowing and finally discharging the account the account thereof doth belong unto us, the administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased, and any way concerning his will is granted unto Henry Wetsel, George Wetsel and Daniel Wetsel executors in the said will named, they being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same, and to make and exhibit a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said goods chattels and credits, + also the rendering a true and first account thereof, when thereunto required. In testimony whereof, we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed.
