(1765 - 1843.) Holy Bible in English; lacking title, date not known. Contains the records of John Beekman and Mary Elizabeth Goad Bedlow, his wife, with their descendants. The later entries giving the descent to the present day have been omitted at the request of the family. The Bible is now in possession of Mrs. William Bedlow Beekman of New York, whose husband was a descendant of John Beekman. MARRIAGES. 1792 Nov. 3: On Saturday evening was married by the bishop Samuel Provoost, John Beekman, son of James Beekman and Jane Keteltas to Mary Elisabeth Goad Bedlow, daughter of William Bedlow and Catherine Rutgers all of New York. 1819 Jan. 5th was married by Rev. Philip Milledolar, Catharine Bedlow daughter of John Beekman & Mary E. G Bedlow to Abraham K. Fish son of John Fish & Sarah Keteltas, all of New York. 1822 Oct. 18 was married by Rev. Dr. McMurray, Mary, daughter of John Beekman & Mary E. G. Bedlow to Wm. A. de Peyster, son of Abraham de Peyster & Catherine Augusta Livingston, all of New York. 1833 Nov. 6th was married by the Rev. F. L. Hawkes, Jane daughter of Jno Beekman & M. E. G. Bedlow to Jacob Hallet Borrowe, son of Samuel Borrowe & Sarah Hallett, all of this city. 1832 Jan. 12th was married, by Rev. Dr. Brownley, Lydia, daughter of Jno. Beekman & Mary E. G. Bedlow to Joseph Foulke, son of Joseph Foulke & Charlotte Brion, all of New York. 1841 June 1st was married Win Fenwick son of Jno Beekman and Mary E. G. Bedlow to Catharine Alexander, daughter of Wm Neilson & Hannah Coles by the Rev. F. L. Hawks, all of this city. BIRTHS. Saturday 1794 Feb 1st This Morning at 1/2 past 9 o'clock was born our first son & On the 21st Inst. he was Baptised in the house by the name of William, by the Rev. Dr. Wm. Linn, Godfather, uncle Wm Beekman, with myself & wife, sponsors. 1796 May 8th, on Sunday afternoon 1/2 past 4 o'clock was born our second, & on Sunday afternoon 29th, inst he was baptised in the house, by the name of James by the Rev. Dr. John H. Livingston, after my father, my wife & self sponsors. 1798. Sept 11th on Tuesday afternoon 1/4 after 1 oclock was born our first daughter on Sunday Nov. 4th she was baptised in the New Dutch Church, by the name of Catherine Bedlow by the Rev. Dr. Wm Linn. After her Grandma Bedlow, my wife & self sponsors. 1800 Sept. 15th On Monday afternoon at « past 3 o'clock was born our second daughter & on Sunday Oct. 26th was baptised in the New Dutch Church, by the name of Mary by the Rev. Jno. Abeel, my wife & self sponsors. 1802. : Sept 21st On Tuesday afternoon 1/2 after 5 oelock was born our third son & on Wednesday Nov. 4th was baptised, in the house, by the name of John Crosby, by the Rev. Jno. Abeel, my wife & self sponsors. 1805 Feb'y 10th On Sunday morning at « after 4 o'clock was born our third daughter, & on Saturday March 9th was baptised in the house, by the name of Jane, after her Grandmother Beekman, my wife & self Sponsors. (by Rev. Jno. Abeel.) 1807 June 28th On Sunday afternoon at 1.06 oclock was born our 4th daughter & on Sunday July 26th 1807 was baptised in the Presbyterian church on Henry Rutgers estate, by the Rev. Philip Milledoler, by the name of Sarah Ralston (after our cousin wife of Robert Ralston of Philadelphia my wife & self sponsors. 1809 Aug. 4th, On Friday afternoon at 20 min. after 2 oclock was born our fourth son & on Sunday Sept. 3rd, 1809 was baptised in the Presbyterian Church in Rutgers st, by the Rev. Philip Milledolar, by the name of William Fenwick, myself & wife sponsors. 1811 July 12th On Friday evening at 10 minutes after 100 `clock, was born our fifth daughter & on Sunday August 18th 1811 was baptised in the Presbyterian Church Rutgers St. by the Rev. Philip Milledolar, by the name of Lydia, (after her aunt Lydia wife of James Beekman wife & myself sponsors. 1814 Jan'y 12th on Wednesday morning at 10 minutes after 7 o'clock was born our 5th son & on Sunday 22nd of May 1814 was baptised in the Dutch Church at Bloomingdale by the name of James, by the Rev. Alexander Gunn, my wife & self sponsors. DEATHS. 1797. Aug. 21st On Monday evening at 6 o'clock died our son James aged 15 months & 13 days, and was interred in our family vault in the new dutch church graveyard. 1805 Oct. 24th on Thursday morning at the Wallabout (Long Island), died our eldest son Wm aged 11 years 8 months & 23 days, after a severe illness of three days & was interred in the new burying ground of the dutch church. 1816 May 12th On Sunday afternoon at « past seven o'cLock died our fifth son James aged 2 yrs & 4 months with dropsy of the brain & was interred in our family vault in the new Dutch churchyard. 1832 Aug. 16th, on Thursday morning died our fourth daughter Sarah Ralston aged 25 years & 1 month of consumption & was interred in the tomb of her brother William, in the new burying ground of the Dutch Church. 1843 Dec. 8th on Friday afternoon a quarter before 5 o'clock died John Beekman, aged 76 years & 8 months, & was buried in the family vault in the New Dutch churchyard in Nassau Street. 1848 April 5th on Wednesday afternoon about 6 oclock died Mary E. G. Beekman, aged 76 yrs, 8 mons. & 3 days & was buried in St. Thomas churchyard corner of Broadway and Houston St. New York.
