Lape, December 1999. jjlape@twcny.rr.com Johannes Lape, the oldest son of Samuel Lape, Sr. and Elizabeth Heidley, was born May 28, 1773, in Churchtown (Claverack), Columbia, NY. He married on December 23, 1795, Maria Feller, daughter of John Feller of West Sand Lake, Rensselaer, NY. Johannes and Maria Lape lived on the north shore of Aries', now known as Snyder's Lake, North Greenbush, Rensselaer, NY, and had eight children between 1798-1818. Johannes Lape died October 17, 1849, and is buried in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, West Sand Lake, Rensselaer, NY. Maria Fellers Lape died October 08, 1853, and is also buried in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The following is information from of the John Lape & Maria Fellers Family Bible, compliments of Jeanette Shiel. Jeanette is a descendant of the Uline family of Rensselaer County, NY. The Uline family has been the holder of the John Lape Family Bible for the past 100 years. The Lape family would like to thank Jeanette and the Uline family for their guardianship, and for their thoughtfulness in sharing the John Lape Family Bible. The Bible was no doubt given to John and Maria Lape by their son Rev. Thomas Lape in 1834, the publish date of the Bible. In 1834 Rev. Thomas Lape was a minister in Woodstock, NY.
