Dunn, State Treasurer, was born in Providence, R.I., and with his parents came to Rochester in 1857. Mr. Dunn received an education in the public schools of Rochester and then entered upon what proved to be a successful business career. He is now engaged in the manufacturing of perfumery. Mr. Dunn was for two years President of the Chamber of Commerce of Rochester, and is one of its trustees. He is now a member of the Board of Trustees of the Rochester Orphan Asylum and was Chief Commissioner and President of the New York State Commission to the Jamestown Ter-Centennial Exposition. He is also one of the directors of the Genesee Valley Trust Company, and a member of the Genesee Valley Club, the Yacht Club, and the Rochester Club, Masonic Order and Country Club. Mr. Dunn is a life member of the Rochester Athletic Club. Besides his own business is also financially interested in several other industries of Rochester. Nominated for State Senator in 1906 by the Republican party, mr. Dunn received 12,696 votes to 9.917 cast for Joseph B. Schaefer, Democrat. At the beginning of 1907, upon entering the Senate, Mr. Dunn was appointed a member of the following Senate committes; Cities, Railroads, Banks, Trades and Manufacturers, Public Health. Nominated for State Treasurer in 1908, Mr.Dunn received 832,449 votes to 703,944 cast for Julius Hauser, Democrat.
