Lyon Company, 1909 John Bartow Olmsted was born in Le Roy, Genesee county, New York, January 28, 1854; educated at the Le Roy Academy, was graduated at Phillips Exeter Academy in 1872 and from Harvard College in 1876. He also took lectures at Heidelberg University in 1880 and was admitted to practice at the bar in the State of New York in 1879 and was made attorney of the Buffalo Pitts Company in 1885 and filled that position until his appointment on the Public Service Commission in April, 1908. He was also a trustee and secretary of the Buffalo Pitts Company at the time of his appointment on the Public Service Commission. In politics he is an independent Republican and has been President of the Municipal League of Buffalo and trustee of the Buffalo Seminary, of the Elmwood School, and councilor of the University of Buffalo. He was alos for three years a member of the Civil Service Commission in the city of Buffalo. He is a member of the Saturn Club of Buffalo and the Fort Orange Club of Albany.
