Sague was born in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess county, New York in 1862, and was educated in public schools and at the high school, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was graduated from Stevens Institute, Hoboken, N.J., in 1883 with the degree of Mechanical Engineer. He has had railroad experience on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, Erie, and Jamaica railroad, West Indies, eight years in all. The positions he has held on railroads has been that of General Foreman, Master Mechanic, Engineer of Tests, Mechanical Engineer, and Superintendent of Motive Power. He also has had a manufacturing experience of sixteen years as Mechanical Engineer of the Schenectady Locomotive Works, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the American Locomotive Company, and vice-president of the American Locomotive Company. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and of the Lawyers, Engineers and National Arts Clubs of New York, Mohawk Club of Schenectady, and Fort Orange Club of Albany.
