He served out this term and immediately enlisted under Captain Samuel Northam of Colchester to drive a Continental team. He served under this enlistment nine months. The next year he again enlisted under the same Captain for nine months more. He was then discharged and even the same day captured by the enemy. They took from him all his money and all his discharges and all his clothes except what he had on, and even took his coat. He was taken by the Refugees or Tories and was carried to New York and confined in the Sugar House. He served in the capacity of a private soldier. He has no further evidence to offer. Mar. 24, 1829: Comfort Goff of Rush, Monroe Co., New York, aged 69, made a second application. He was discharged at Peekskill, New York, and on his way home to Connecticut he was taken prisoner by a "party of the common enemy," taken to New York City, and all his effects, papers and discharges taken from him. He was detained in New York for seven weeks and four days. He has never received a pension, has disposed of no property, has no property in trust.
