CLARA WILCOX CARPENTER Mrs. Clara Wilcox Carpenter died at her home in Wayland Wednesday morning, March 29, at 6:40 o'clock, after a short illness. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the home, Rev. Stackhouse, pastor of the M. E. Church, of which she was a member, officiated. The services at the grave were in charge of the Eastern Star. Clara Wilcox was born in the town of Springwater, April 12, 1854, one of the four daughters of Daniel and Nancy Wilcox, and was the last one of the family. On November 30, 1875 she ws married to Edwin A. Carpenter. She was the mother of four children: Ward, died in infancy; Mrs. Sarah N. Hoffman, and L. D. Carpenter of Wayland and Rose Carpenter Greene of Washington, D.C., who with her husband survive her. Mrs. Carpenter's life of unselfishness and devotion to her family is a beautiful example of Christian living.
