Ingalls, the Democratic Candidate for Clerk of Courts of Jackson County, was born in St. Lawrence County, New York. He came with his parents to Iowa when a boy and settled in Maquoketa in 1870, where he has since resided. He was united in marriage with Miss Ida Weeman, of this county, in 1884. To this union nine children were born, six of whom survive. He has held a number of positions of honor and trust, always serving the people faithfully and with ability. At present he is one of the Aldermen from the Third Ward in Maquoketa and has made a splendid record in that capacity. He has made a special study of municipal affairs and is considered an authority upon the laws for the government of cities. Recognizing his ability he was recently elected vice- president of the League of Iowa Municipalities, a society composed of the Mayors and Aldermen of the state, Mr. Ingalls is especially fitted for the position of Clerk of Courts for the reason he has made a study of the duties of county officers and the details of conducting a county office and is entirely familiar with every feature of the work he will be required to do if elected. There is no man in the county and but few in the state better posted on county business than Mr. Ingalls and the people of the county will make no mistake if they should regardless of party, at the coming election, name him to serve them as Clerk of Courts for the next two years.
