Hamp line for 12 months. ______________________________ ______________________________ Inscribed on the Roll of Albany at the rate of 40 Dollars -----cents per annum to commence on the fifth day of March 1836 ________________________________ ________________________________ Certificate of Pension issued the 30 day of J----- 1840, & sent to ------- Silas Wright Jr and S.U.S. __________________________________ __________________________________ Arrears to the 4th of Sept 1839 $138.5- Semi-annual allowance ending 4 Mar 40 $20 _______ $158 Revolutionary Cl------- Act July 4 183- Section the --------- RECORDED by D.M --------- (signed) BOOK A Vol. 2 Page Declaration In order to obtain the benefit of the third section of the act of Congress of the 4th July 1836 State of New York St Lawrence county On this twenty seventh day of February 1837. ------------------- personally appeared before Phineas Attwater a justice of the peace in the State of New York in said county of St Lawrence, Margaret Allen a resident of the town of Madrid County and State aforesaid aged eighty three years who being first of July sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefits of the pension made by the act of Congress passed July 16th 1836. That she is the widow of Jonathan Allen who was a private soldier in the Army of the Revolution and was in Colonel Seth Warner's Regiment enlisted in the spring of 1776 and was until the fall of 1779 was in the battle of Bennington and some other battles, he resided in the town of Winchester now State of Vermont at the time he enlisted. This Declarant has no documentation in her possession in support of her claim to a pension. Her husband the late Jonathan Allen was ------ on the pension list-roll of the Albany Agency on the Seventh day of January 1832 and drew his pension until the fourth of March last. She further declares that she was married to the said Jonathan Allen in the month of May in the year seventeen hundred and seventy in the town of Dover, County of Duchess, State of New York by a Justice of the Peace at which time no record was kept or required by law, she resided in the town of Manchester, State of Vermont for about --- years after marriage. That her husband the aforesaid Jonathan Allen died on the seventeenth day of March 1836 and that she has remained a widow ever since that period, as will more fully appear by -------- to the proof hereto annexed. Sworn to and ---------- on the day and year above written. Phineas Attwater (signed) Justice of the Peace Her Margaret X Allen Mark State of New York County of St Lawrence Personally appeared before the ------ a Justice of the Peace in the county aforesaid Samuel Allen of Madrid in said County and being duly sworn according to law said that he is the son of Jonathan and Margaret Allen, that he is sixty five years of age and has lived in the family of his father. -------- and his immediate neighbors have from ---- earliest resided with. That it was understood in the family that they were married in the town of Dover State of New York and have ever since this defendant(?) --- ------ --------- together as husband and wife until the time of said Jonathan Allen's death on the 17th day of March 1836 and since that period said Margaret has lived in the family of this deposing and remained a widow.
