Boys, Continental, for the term of three years. Described on the Roll of New York at the rate of $8.00 per month to commence ? 16th of ? 1818. Certificate of Pension issued on the 25th of Oct. 1819 and sent to Louis Husbranach (?) Esq. Fort Mantro (?) Ogdensburg, NY Arrears to 4th of Sept. 1819 16 wks (?) 19/30 $133.06 ??? ending 4th ? 1820 $48.00 total $181.00 Revolutionary Claim, Act 18th March 1818 (?) State of New York, St. Lawrence Co. On this sixteenth day of April 1818 before me the Subscriber First Judge of the County of St. Lawrence in the State of New York personally appears Abel Pratt aged sixty years on the 27th day of October last past residing in the town of Russell in the said county of St. Lawrence who being by me duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision made by the Late Act of Congress entitled, "An Act to Provide For Certain Persons Engaged in the Land and Naval Service of the United States in the Revolutionary War." That he, the said Abel Pratt, enlisted at the early part of the Revolutionary War in the month of February in the Company of Captain Samuel Wright (?) in the Regiment of Colonel Seth Warner for three months and was sent to Quebec as a reinforcement to General Montgomery. That he reached Quebec after the death of the General. and re? with the Army on the sixth of May. That he again ? on the 24th day of November 1776 in the City of Albany State of New York in the Company commanded by Captain (?) Junion/Junior Smith of Lenox, Massachusetts in the Regiment of Colonel Seth Warner and was in the Brigade of General St. Clair at the retreat from Ticonderoga-that he continued to serve in the said Corps (?) in the service of the United States until the year 1780 when he was discharged from Service in Bennington, Vermont- that he was in the Battle of (?) Island (?) on Lake Champlain- That he was in reduced circumstances and was in need of the assistance of his Country for support and that he has no other evidence now in ? proven of his service (missing some lines) Contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the Schedule here ? ? and by me Subscribe: Schedule of Property- Real estate none. Personal: Two Pails ?, 1 tea Kettle, 6 earthen plates, 6 teacups and saucery, two pails, three chairs, one five pail kettle. And this declarant doth further state that he is by occupation, a farmer, but has not been able to do any labor of ? for these six years past being ? afflicted with the Rheumatism- That he has a wife and eight children who are all of age except the youngest who is in the State of Ohio, that his children are also in low circumstance in life and are unable to contribute to his support and are removed to different parts. has one son, William, living with him who has principally supported this declarant and his wife for five or six years past by his labor and has but little property not exceeding fifty dollars in the whole. Davis signed Abel X (mark) Pratt Apparently, my GGGGGfather Abel Pratt reappeared in Court on7 June 1820 before First Judge of the County of St. Lawrence, Nathan Ford who confirmed that Abel Pratt did indeed serve in the Rev. War as stated and was forwarded to the Secretary of the Department of War for approval.
