STEVENS DIES IN CARTHAGE HOSPITAL Dateline: CARTHAGE Gladys M. Stevens, 82, formerly of West Side Terrace, died this morning in Carthage Area Hospital, where she had been a patient four days. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. James T. Spenard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bezanilla- McGraw Funeral Home, where the recitation of the Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Friday. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Pauline) Dionne, West Carthage; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mae McEwen, Potsdam; a brother, Darwin Delosh, Potsdam, and nieces and nephews. A sister, Lila Sullivan, and three brothers, Roy, Perli and Donald Delosh, died before her. Born Aug. 17, 1911, in North Lawrence, daughter of Augustus and Addie Towers Delosh, she attended North Lawrence schools and married Howard K. Stevens July 11, 1932, in St. James Catholic Church. Mr. Stevens, a former yard foreman for the St. Regis Paper Co., died May 19, 1979. Mrs. Stevens worked for the St. Regis Paper Co. for 11 years in West Carthage. For 19 years, she was a clerk at the former W.T. Grant Store in Carthage. She retired in 1973. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Deferiet, Brady Acres and Long Falls senior citizens groups. She was also a member of Jefferson County Cooperative Extension.
