GOULD-Fred B., 88, of Rockville Centre, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005, of cardiac failure. He was preceded in death by his beloved late wife, Virginia Heaphy Gould. A salesman by trade, he was born July 1, 1916, in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He was a son of Morris Gould and Florence Hyatt Gould. He was brother to Robert, Edward, and Lillian, all of whom prececeased. Gould was Director of International Art Supply Sales for Crayola and Strathmore Paper, selling artist supplies to many prominent artists of the day. He also worked for Art and Sign Brush Manufacturing Company, Delta Brush Company, and International Paper. With an expert eye, he could distinguish between the finest grades of brushes and personally designed the premier brand of watercolor brushes sold to professional artists, worldwide. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa, 1938, in liberal arts from The City College of New York - CCNY, where he played lacrosse. He did graduate work for educational psychology. He taught social studies, economics, civics, and history at the Manual Training High School in Brooklyn. Later, he sold corrugated boxes and taught at night at the Bayridge Evening School. Gould served in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1974. He was a pilot flying support missions and was stationed for three years on Tarawa Island in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major, U.S.A.R. Gould was a longtime member of the Rockville Links Club where he was an unofficial confidante to many prominent Long Island citizens. He is survived by his children, Kenneth J. Heaphy of Raritan, N.J., and Virginia H. Uhlinger of Syosset, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Heaphy (Raritan), and son-inlaw, William Uhlinger (Syosset), and grandchildren, Kathleen Heaphy Danna of Huntington Beach, Calif., James K. Kinsley, Margaret (Peggy) KINSLEY-Margaret (Peggy), affectionately known as "The Bakery Lady", who worked close to 40 years at the Levittown Bakery, on April 21, 2005 with her children at her side after a gallant fight with cancer. Peggy, who was a breast cancer survivor in 1993, was born Margaret Mary Maroney in Manhattan in 1920 and is the only surviving child of Nellie Walsh and Thomas Maroney. While working at the Fifth Avenue Bus Company in Manhattan, she met her husband, William, and they married in 1947. A short time after, he joined the New York City Police Department. In 1954 they decided move to Levittown to raise their six children and she took a job at the bakery to supplement their income. "It seems that no matter where she went, even vacationing in Ireland, she would meet people who would recognize her from the bakery", said her daughter, Denise Santelli. Petroski, Stanley PETROSKI-Stanley, formerly of Glen Cove, NY passed away in Conway, SC at the age of 87 on January 24, 2005. Stan was a 1st Lt. and a WW II Hero, with three purple hearts and two bronze stars. In November 1944 Stan stepped on a landmine near Livorno, Italy, losing his left leg. He was honored by the city of Glen Cove for his heroics in action and his sacrifice on November 11, 1994. He went on to build seven houses, while holding a full time job as a manager with Doubleday & Co., play golf, water ski and even ride a bike. For those who knew him, they know he never once complained of his injury and continued to alwaya have an extremely positive attitude. He was inducted into the Glen Cove Football Hall of Fame in 1987 for having been the star running back of Glen Cove High School. He was the loving husband of the late Katherine, Nee Dowd, who was the daughter of Lt. John P. Dowd, a Nassau County Police Officer who died in the line of duty. He is survived by his two sons, Stanley (Barbara) and John of Conway, SC and his daughter, Karin Potemkin Merriweather (Phillip) of Alberquerque, NM, his sister Eileen Sheridan of Spring Hill, Fl, two grandchildren, Stanley and Deborah Wass, one great grandchild and his beloved friend and companion, his dog, Moe.
