BIGG-Howard C., born April 15, 1913, passed away on August 5, 2005. He retired to Naples, Florida in 1979, coming from Nassau Point, Cutchogue, Long Island, NY. He built the only New York City Golf Course ever constructed on 220 acres of sanitation landfill; Marine Park Golf Course in Brooklyn. He was appointed as Park Director of the New York City Parks Department in 1970, retiring in 1972 after 36 years of service. He is survived by his son, Howard N. Bigg and daughter-inlaw Joan, granddaughters Dawn Schmidt of Denver, Colorado, Lisa Cali of Massapequa, Long Island and son-in-law William Nagle of Bethpage, Long Island. Published in Newsday on 8/8/2005. Ripp, Dr. Raymond M. RIPP-Dr. Raymond M., a resident of Garden City, New York died August 5, 2005. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 2, 1924, the son of John A. Ripp and Genevieve O'Mahoney Ripp. He was a graduate of Garden City High School class of 1942, attended St. Francis College and the College of the Holy Cross and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School in 1948. Dr. Ripp served as a Lieutenant JG in the United States Navy, serving in World War II and the Korean War. Subsequently, Dr. Ripp opened a dental office in Garden City and practiced there for over forty years. Dr. Ripp was a long-standing member and highly respected president of the Nassau County Dental Society from which he received the Herbert L. Taub service award for a lifetime of distinguished service in January of 2005. He was a past president of the Long Island Academy of Odontology and the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, a dental honor society. He was a chair for many years of the NCDS Council on Peer Review, served as Nassau County's representative to the state association's council and chaired the Society's Committee on Access, which operated a program to assist indigents in need of dental care. Dr. Ripp served as president of both the Catholic Dentists Guild of the Diocese of Rockville Centre and the Men's Guild of St. Joseph's R.C. Church. He was a director of the Garden City Eastern Property Owner's Association and was the founder and president of P.A.V.E.S, a voluntary service organization established in Garden City. He is survived by his wife Joan Haskins Ripp; four sons, Thomas, William; Kerry and Stephen; two daughters, Dr. Nancy Ripp Clark; and Patricia Ripp Janicke; and seventeen grandchildren.
