Serrecchia, Jennie Richards SERRECCHIA-Jennie Richards. Beautiful Miss Jennie died on August 12, 2005, in Dallas, Texas. Born in New York on May 18, 1923, she was the daughter of Angelina Trezza Riccinti and Giovanni Riccinti. A talented artist, she studied at Girls' Commercial School specializing in graphic arts with the goal of becoming an animator for Disney. She worked for Western Union in New York delivering messages from one end of the building to another on roller skates. She hung up her skates in 1987 when she had an unfortunate incident with a hill, a horse and a haystack, while teaching neighborhood children to skate. A constant thread throughout her life was love and care taking of those who needed it. Her daily routine was to feed not only the birds and squirrels in her yard, but also to take packets of feed, each labeled for the creatures who lived in the concrete surrounds of Foley's, Tuesday Morning and Albertson's. Her love of animals resulted in a string of pets over the years including twelve cats, five parakeets and three dogs. A tiny woman with a sense of humor second to none, Miss Jennie's favorite television shows were "Crossfire," "The West Wing," and "Saturday Night Live." One of her favorite dogs, Mrs. Slocum, was named for the character in the British comedy, "Are you being served?" For a woman in her 80's, Miss Jennie was remarkably hip. She was well known in the theater community not only for her loyal attendance, but also for her support and care for the performers. She was married to the late Louis Serrecchia. Survivors are her sons, Edward of Lindenhurst, New York, and Michael of Dallas, Texas; daughterin-law June; son-in-law Michael Robinson; grandsons Jason, Bill and Danny Smith; Michael Serrecchia; her brother James Richards, Staten Island, NY; Lena Reega, Prescott, Arizona, sister-inlaw Dori Richards, Middle Island, NY. Her brother Robert Richards preceded her in death.
