Gunst, Yvonne Maxine Clough GUNST-Yvonne Maxine Clough, surrounded by her loving family, Yvonne Clough Gunst of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania died at age 83 from complications of a stroke on August 13, 2005 at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Born in Wentworth, New Hampshire in 1922, to the late Ada (True) and Honor (Homer) Clough, she was ninth of eleven children. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire and received her Master of Education Degree from the State University of New York. Yvonne was a beloved elementary school teacher at Brook Avenue School in Bay Shore, New York for 26 years. After her retirement, she and her late husband, Glenn A. Gunst, moved to Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania to be near their daughter Linda and her husband, Richard Stat, and their children, Michael and David. Yvonne and Glenn are survived also by their daughter, Kathy, who resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Yvonne was a great lover of nature, an avid boater, prolific gardener, world traveler, and expressive artist. She had a fine sense of humor, was generous of spirit, enjoyed life immensely and was grateful for her many blessings. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and devoted and proud grandmother. Born May 13, 1918, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Timothy and Katherine McNamara. She was cherished by all those around her, and was dearly loved by her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph McNamara and his wife, Dorothy, and Francis and his wife, Agnes, who both predeceased her. Devoted Aunt to Kathleen Hartzler, her husband Jim. Devoted Aunt to the children of Dorothy and Joseph: Kevin, Timmy, Jean, Maureen, Dennis, Mary, and Tricia; and their spouses, Tim Ahern, Colin McBride, Alayne Goldberg, and Peggy Levesque. She was the loving Grand Aunt to Bridget, Katie, Matthew, Timothy, Brian, Timmy, and Kelly. A devout woman who lived her faith, Agnes seemed to touch everyone she met. She had a zest for life and a phonebook brimming with names of very close friends. Agnes enjoyed a good chat, following sports on TV, and was eager for a round of golf or a walk on the beach. At age 16 Agnes entered St. Joseph's College for Women and graduated in 1938. That same year, she began a 45-year career for the Diocese of Brooklyn and retired in 1983. While at the Diocese, she assumed many roles including secretary to Bishop Mugavero, worked in the Marriage Tribunal and helped coordinate Pope John Paul II's visit to New York in 1987. Following retirement from the Diocese of Brooklyn, Agnes worked with The Little Sisters of the Sick Poor and The American Red Cross. She then accepted a six-month assignment in the Office of the Chancellor for The Diocese of Rockville Centre, that assignment grew into a 12-year career and she retired again at 83 years of age. Not content to sit at home, Agnes then volunteered as one of the Silver Spoons at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.
