George was born in Queens, Long Island, New York, and grew up there and in Brooklyn. He graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High School in 1947 and served five years in the Army Corps of Engineers. His tours of duty took him to Alaska and Greenland. George was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Manhattan and Lindenhurst, LI, for 25 years. He enjoyed all the patrons on his route and especially performing magic tricks for the children. Upon his retirement in 1985 he and his wife Charlotte (Hanratty) joined family members in retiring to the Red Rocks of Sedona, Arizona. There he enjoyed the hobby of building and flying model airplanes, and was a member of the Central Arizona Modelers. After Charlotte passed away in 1997, George married the former Linda K. Rodgers in 1999 in Sedona. Linda and George moved to Fort Collins in 2004 to be near medical care for him and to her family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, brothers Robert of Lindenhurst, and Tom (Fran) of West Babylon, nieces Robin Smith Speteri, Kelly Ann Smith (Jason) Haley; grandnieces Samantha Smith and Brooke Lyn Haley; nephews Stephen, Timothy (Janice) and Richard Smith and John and Bill Geddemi; grandnephews Bobby, Danny and Michael Speteri, Timothy and Brian Smith, and the Hanratty Family, all of Long Island; stepson George Rodgers of San Francisco, stepdaughter Jennifer Rodgers and son-in-law Philip Antinelli and grandchildren Gabriel, Sophia and Nina Antonelli of Denver, CO, and many friends.
