Benson, Philip A.
BENSON-Philip A., formerly of West Islip, on February 10, 2005, in his 91st
Year. Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Martha and his
loving children, Ronald, Gary (Linda) and Bruce (Virginia). Cherished
grandfather of 10 grandchildren. Mr. Benson, better known as "Phil the Barber"
was the owner of Phil's Barber Shop, located in West Islip for over 40 years.
The Bensons will receive friends and family on Saturday and Sunday between the
hours of 2-4PM and 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady
of Lourdes RC Church, on Monday at 10AM. Interment will take place at Queens
of All Saints Cemetery of Central Islip. Arrangements were handled under the
care and dedication of Lang-Tobia-DiPalma Funeral Home, 255 Higbie La., West
Islip, NY 11795.

32 years as a faithful employee of Macy's Department Store Bay Shore. Mrs.
Bunk retired in 1995. Beloved wife of the late John Bunk. Loving mother of
Jack, William, Bridget, Eadon, Elizabeth Otto, Gina Cseh and the late Francis
who in 1970 was killed in action in Vietnam. Cherished grandmother of
fourteen, devoted great grandmother of six, dear sister of Kathleen
Squillante, the late Aggie Brewster and the late Margi Modell. The family will

Ervast, Barbara L.
ERVAST-Barbara L., 59 of Valrico, FL, passed away February 10, 2005, after a
brief illness. Born in Brooklyn, NY, raised on Staten Island, NY, and long
time resident of Setauket, NY, she moved to the local area in 2001 to be close
to family. Barbara is retired from the Student Accounts Department of the
State University at Stony Brook. She was a Cub Scout leader, active on Church
committees including President of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies' Guild,
and was very proud to have earned a degree from Suffolk County Community
College and be inducted into the Honor Society at age 46. She is survived by
her mother, Helen Fuller of Valrico; her husband, David Sr.; her sons, David
Jr., of Valrico and Bryan of Allentown, PA; twin grandchildren, David III and
Nicole; uncle, Frank Courtney Jr.; step sister, Lynne Canzani; step brothers,
Anthony and Robert Fuller. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8PM Sunday, February
13, 2005, at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 6919 Providence
Rd., Riverview, FL. A Celebration of Life will take place 10AM Monday,
February 14, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2913 S. John Moore Rd.,
Brandon, with cremation to follow. The family requests that in lieu of

Goodrich, Lauraine Zillah
GOODRICH-Lauraine Zillah, on February 8, 2005. We celebrate the life of
Lauraine Zillah Goodrich, born in Vermont on April 15, 1925, to Charlotte
Brown and C. Arthur Goodrich. Lauraine lived a rich, full life with several
careers, including an award from New York State for her longevity as a public
servant which included 45 years at the Jones Beach Marine Stadium and her
retirement posting as a New York State Probation Officer. Her Jones Beach
service was the subject of one of two feature articles on her published in
Newsday. At 51 she achieved one of her life-long goals as she received her
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from SUNY at Stony Brook. Lauraine's finest
accomplishment was bearing and raising six uniquely incredible children:
Charlotte, Ernest, Emily, Betsy, Suzanne and Jane. Following her lead, they
are raising her eight grandchildren: Kathryn, Angie, Ernie, Arthur, Leah, Amy,
Sarah and Becci. Lauraine also lives on through her sister and brother,
Hildagard and Charlie, and her stepmother ErnaJean Goodrich, and the rest of
her circle of family and friends which includes the staff at the Holy Apostles
Soup Kitchen, where she volunteered for the past three years. The Celebration
Service for her life will be at 5 PM on Sunday, February 13, at St. Paul & St.
Andrew United Methodist Church at 86th St. & West End Ave.
