BATEMAN-Edith E., 85, of Highland, NY, a resident since 1997, previously of
LI, died on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, on
October 24, 1919, she was the daughter of Joseph Baker and Sarah Ward. She was
married to Howard Bateman. He predeceased her May 24, 1992. Survivors include
one daughter, Beryl and her husband Ernie Sorensen of Highland, NY, one
sister, Lorraine Schouten of Port Angeles, WA, three grandchildren, Erik and
Ryan Sorensen and Lisa Koosis, granddaughterin-law, Mellissa Sorensen,
grandson-in-law, Aron Koosis. She was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Baker
and Lucille Leger and two brothers, Ralph and Harold Baker. Calling hours are
Monday, February 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial
Funeral Home, Inc., 28 Main Street, Highland. A Mass of Christian burial will
be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00am at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in
Highland. Burial will follow in Calverton National Cemetery, LI.

2005. He was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Westbury, Long Island. He

Island. Herb spent his professional career with Budget Rent-A-Car. From
1984-1995 as Vice President of Corporate Operations for North America, as
Senior V.P. of Operations EMEA, and as Senior V.P. of Operations Worldwide
from 1998-2001. He had also worked with R.I. Heller and Co., LLC, Rand
McNally, and Viasource. From 2001-2003 he was Senior V.P. in Fleet Operations
for ANC Rental Corp. Prior to 1984, he held a variety of management positions
with Hertz Corp. and Avis Rent-A-Car. He is predeceased by his father Herbert
and mother Catherine. Survivors: two sons, Bobby Luckwaldt of Orlando, FL, and
Jimmy (Michelle) Luckwaldt of St. Petersburg, FL; two daughters, Trish (Dan)
Giordano of Orlando, FL, and Suzanne (Don) Hagberg of Sante Fe, NM; brother
Lawrence (Robin) of Fayetteville, NY; seven grandchildren; a niece and nephew.
