Arroyo, Anthony Thomas
ARROYO-Anthony Thomas, 88, of Delmar, MD, formerly of East Northport, NY, on
Tuesday, February 15, 2005. Born on January 22, 1917 in Puerto Rico, he was a
son of the late Anthony and Maria Marquez Arroyo. Mr. Arroyo was raised in
Philadelphia and later worked as an engineer designing tools for Grumman
Aircraft in Bethpage, Long Island, NY. While at Grumman Aircraft, Mr. Arroyo
worked on the Lunar Module Project. After his retirement in 1982, he moved to
Delmar along with the credits he acquired at the University of Pennsylvania,
he graduated from Salisbury University where he taught periodically. He was a
member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, past member of
the Art Institution in Salisbury, was active in the local Democratic Party
Committee, was a frequent volunteer with the Little Sisters of Jesus and Mary
and was an avid ham radio operator. He is survived by his wife Adelina M.
Arroyo, of Delmar, four sons, Anthony T. Arroyo, Jr. and his wife Magaret, of
Charlotte, N.C., Richard L. Arroyo and his wife JoAnn, of Northport, NY,
Arthur R. Arroyo, of Mexico, and Raymond R. Arroyo of Central Islip, NY; two
daughters, Linda Suttmeier and her husband, Richard, of NY, and Elizabeth A.
Hensley and her husband John, of Seaford; fourteen grandchildren, four great
grandchildren; and one brother Raoul Arroyo, of Georgia; and one sister
Josephine Stevens, of Philadelphia. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1PM
at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Edward M.
Aigner, Jr. will be the celebrant. The arrangements are being handled by
Zeller Funeral Home in Salisbury.

DONOVAN-Helen, age 93, of Deerfield Beach, FL, formerly of Forest Hills, NY,
on February 14, 2005. Born in Brooklyn, NY. Predeceased by her husband Walter,
daughter Maureen Garcia and son, Michael Donovan. Survived by daughter,
Virginia Coleman, son, Vincent, 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 2
great great grandchildren. Civic activist and leader in Forest Hills.
Instrumental in bringing storm sewers to flood-prone areas. Active in Queens
and Florida, Republican Organizations. Pioneer in EEG Brain-Scan Technology at
Bellevue and N.Y.U. Hospitals. Served as President of Metropolitan EEG
Society. Beloved by all she touched. She loved to give and receive hugs.
Private Cremation in Florida. Donations to NAMI or your favorite charity in

FLORIDO-Rev. Msgr. Raphael A., on February 16, 2005, of the Diocese of
Brooklyn. First generation American, son of Frank and Nancy Florido, natives
of Italy. Beloved brother of Mary Ciervo, Anna Cesare, Clara Grilli, and the
late Carmela Tambone, Liberta Fucci and John Florido. Beloved brother-inlaw of
Paul Ciervo, Pat Cesare and Salvatore Grilli. Beloved uncle of many nieces,
nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Educated at Our Lady of Loretto Parish,
East New York, and was the first priest ordained from the parish, on April 3,
1945. Among his pastoral assignments, stationed at Holy Family Parish,
Canarsie, from 1953 to 1990, last 17 years as Pastor. Passed away in Bayside,
after a long and noble struggle with Parkinson's disease. Mass of Christian
Burial to be held at Holy Family Church, Flatlands Ave. and Rockaway Pkwy.,
Canarsie, Brooklyn, on Saturday, February 19, at 10:30 a.m.; viewing of body
in church from 9-10 a.m. His Excellency, Bishop Thomas V. Daily, will preside;

MANGIERI-ASCHENBACH-Violet, born November 5, 1912, in Brooklyn, died February
16, 2005, in Islip, after a long life of bringing joy and happiness to others.
One of seven brothers and sisters, she is predeceased by Alphonse, Josephine,
Michael, Mildred, Andrew and Alfred. Beloved she is survived by her daughter,
Sr. Mary Alice Aschenbach CIJ, niece, Marianne and husband Gus LaFronz;
grandniece Ellen and husband David Adams; grandnephews John LaFronz and wife
Mary, Nicholas LaFronz and wife Jackie and Paul LaFronz; great grandnieces
Julia LaFronz and Josephina Adams; great grand nephews Nicholas, Thomas and
Joshua LaFronz. From 1947 to 1975 Violet worked as a superintendent of the
typing department at The Insurance Company of North America now CIGNA.

Rowland, Marion J.
ROWLAND-Marion J., of Oceanside, NY, passed away on February 17, 2005 at the
age of 75. Much loved daughter of Peter and Jessie Rowland (both deceased).
Beloved sister of James, Stephen, Eileen (Sister Mary Peter of the Poor Clare
Order) and Janet Brimlow (deceased). Marion was a Sister of Saint Joseph, who
taught in Elementary Schools in the Brooklyn Diocese for 18 years. She
received her BBA Degree from St. John's University, Jamaica, NY in 1964. She
left the Community in 1969, became a Secretary in NYC and lived in Oceanside
for the next 20 years. In December 2003, Marion moved into Maria Regina
Residence, Brentwood, NY until her death. She will be greatly missed by her

Shean Jr., Rev. William F.
SHEAN-Rev. William F., Jr., on February 17, 2005 in West Babylon, L.I. Rev.
Shean was born December 23, 1940 in Scranton, PA, son of the late William F.,
Sr. and Rosemary Kennedy Shean. He was a graduate of Scranton Preparatory
School and the University of Scranton where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in
Classical Languages and Philosophy. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1963
after teaching for one year at Lansdale Catholic High School. He was ordained
in Baltimore, MD on June 2, 1973. He was a teacher and director of retreats.
In 1996, he joined the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY, where he served as
Associate Pastor of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church,
Centereach, LI and most recently as Associate Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes RC
Church, West Islip, L.I. Father Shean is survived by two sisters; Kathleen
Shean of Osterville, MA and Rosemary Shean McGuigan and husband Jack of
Scranton, PA; niece Maureen McGuigan and nephew Conor McGuigan, both of
Scranton, PA and aunts and cousins. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons
