Brooklyn, on February 20, 2005. She was 85 and was born October 19, 1919 in
Brooklyn to the late Antonio and Vita Zefiretto. She was raised and educated
in Brooklyn. She was married to Louis Gioia on October 12, 1941 in Brooklyn.
Mr. Gioia died in 2003. Mrs. Gioia was a homemaker and a parishioner of Sacred
Heart Church in Greenwich. She is survived by her son Louis Gioia of
Greenwich, CT and daughter Marie Robinson of West Islip, NY, brother Leo
Zefiretto of FL and sister Bessie Tesoriero of Lake Ronkonkoma, NY,
grandchildren Richard Gioia and Alison Gioia and Thomas Robinson, Peter
Robinson, and Jeanne Vest. Greatgrandchildren Alyssa Gioia and Tyler Smith.
Besides her husband she was predeceased by her brothers Labia Zefiretto and

July 22, 1917 in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. Beloved and devoted husband of

war, he returned to the NYPD, retiring as a lieutenant in 1971. As his second
career, he was a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, retiring

RYDZESKI-Burnhart John, of Setauket on February 20, 2005 at the age of 67.
Born August 10, 1937 in the Bronx. Loving husband of Susan Wisbauer Rydzeski.
Devoted father of Justine Marie Rydzeski (Frank Dodaro), Juliet Ann Frodella
(Al) and Mary Caroline Rydzeski. Beloved son of Mary Agnes Rydzeski. Doting
grandfather of Nicholas Frodella. A lifelong music educator, Burnie graduated
from the High School of Music and Art and Hunter College before joining the
music faculty at St. Francis Preparatory in Brooklyn and Lindenhurst High
School. He served the East Islip Schools for over twenty five years as high
school band director and later District Director of Art and Music. An
appreciative community renamed the high school auditorium "Burnhart Rydzeski
Hall" in recognition of his many years of sharing the joys of music and
musical theater with over two generations of students. Burnie was also Camp
Director at Peconic Dunes Camp, where he enjoyed a dozen summers working with
children from all over Suffolk County. Past president of the Suffolk County
Music Educators Association and the NYS Council of Administrators of Music
Educators Association. Friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 411 Old
Town Road, Setauket. Visiting, Tuesday 7-10pm and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-10pm.

trained in WWII as an occupational therapist and became head occupational
therapist of the Nassau County Department of Health. She touched many lives
with her intelligent wit, strength of character and giving nature. She will be
