During World War II, John rose to the rank of First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was personally decorated by General Eisenhower. John was a Vice President for Universal Pictures in New York City for many years, working closely with former Army colleague Col. James Franey. John and his wife Mary Jo retired to southern California in 1987. He succumbed peacefully in a garden with his wife and daughter, Elizabeth, at his side. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; children, Sheila, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Christopher, five grandchildren; and was predeceased by two sons, John Michael and Mark William. He is also survived by two siblings, Sister Mary Sheila and William; a cousin, Mary C. Lyons; and many nieces and nephews. Hadcock, Richard HADCOCK-Richard of Huntingon on July 14, 2005. Born on November 11, 1928 in Hexham, England. He was educated in England at Ampleforth College and the deHavilland Aeronautical Technical School. Richard's career began at the DeHavilland Aircraft Company in 1950. His lifelong love of aviation brought him to the United States in 1966, where he had a distinguished career with Grumman as Director of Advance Development. He participated in the design of the F-14 Tomcat and was the lead inventor of the Grumman owner Patent for Integrated System for Aircraft Crack Detection awarded in 1991. After retirement from Grumman, Richard started his own consulting firm, working on aircraft composite structures with a variety of international firms, the US Air Force and with the NASA Langley Research Center. Known as the "Father of Advanced Composites" Richard traveled the world teaching and lecturing. He was a well-published author of more than 50 technical papers and reports on structures and materials. Richard served on several NASA committees and on the National Research Council Advisory Board. He was a member of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institution of Structural Engineers, and Associate Fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics, as well as the President of the Scipio Society of Naval and Military History. Richard volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister for St. Patrick's Church and as a Boy Scout leader for over 20 years. He loved to go the YMCA and the West Neck Beach for a good swim. A true Renaissance man, Richard loved the arts, music, flowers and was an accomplished water color painter. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary, his children Alison and husband Michael, John and wife Laura, Anthony, Peter and wife Jean, and grandchildren Lauren, Alexis, John and Katie.
