BRANDINE-Rose Dorothy (Maglio). Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on February 3, 1930,
formerly of North Massapequa, N.Y., died peacefully at her home in Niskayuna,
N.Y., July 15, 2005, after a long illness. Daughter of Antonio and Julia
Maglio. Survived by her three loving children, Anthony, Joan Rutherford of
Niskayuna, and Barbara Fontanella of Merrick, N.Y., and her 7 grandchildren,
Danielle, Rosemary, Brian, Kayla, Michael, Jordan, and James. Beloved wife of
43 years to the late Salvatore Brandine. Rose was a graduate of The State
University at Oswego, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and
continued her graduate studies at Queens College. She taught in Elmont and
Farmingdale School Districts, was the past President of the PTA and The
Cultural Arts Progam, and within the district she was the Vice President and
accountant for Brandine and Son Woodcraft Company for 25 years. She enjoyed
crafts, music and fine art, and being with her family. She is also survived by
her siblings, Joseph, Phillip and Lucille, and was predeceased by her sister,
Frances. Waked at St. James Funeral Home, 540 Broadway in Massapequa, Monday,
7-9:30 PM. Christian Mass, 9:45 AM, held at Maria Regina R.C. Church in
Seaford. Interment, St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Crum, Elizabeth L.       
CRUM-Elizabeth L., widow of Lt. Commander, Paul M. Crum, (ret) USMMA, Kings
Point, NY, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2005 in Flat Rock, NC. Formerly
of Kerrville, TX and Roslyn Heights, NY, Elizabeth (Betty) moved to North
Carolina last November two weeks before her 95th birthday to be near family.
She is survived by a sister, Virginia Gibson of Colorado Springs, CO, a
brother, Alfred E. Lounsbury (Elizabeth) of Excelsior, MN, five children;
Marcia Hackett of Tustin, CA; Beverly Butor (Mel) of Madison, WI; Elizabeth
Ehrler (Noel) of Douglaston, NY; Paul M. Crum, Jr. (Melanie) of Etowah, NC;
and Penny Carson of Karlstein, Germany; nine grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled at the Roslyn Presbyterian
Church, on Saturday, September 24th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers contributions

Dhar, Bikashendu         
DHAR-Bikashendu, M.D. The family of Bikashendu Dhar, M.D., is sad to announce
his sudden death on July 11, 2005, in Italy, near Perugia. Dr. Bikashendu Dhar
was born in Patna, India, and immigrated to the United States in 1971. He
received honors in medicine from Patna Medical College, and became a member of
the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1957. Upon his return
to India in 1957, he became a lecturer of medicine at Patna Medical College
and devoted his career to the care of the poor and needy in the state of
Bihar, India. After immigrating to the U.S. with his family, Dr. Bikashendu
Dhar was a successful internist practicing in Queens, N.Y., until his
retirement in 1995. Dr. Dhar is survived by his beloved wife, Seema; his four
children, Reita married to Vilas Gadkari, Uday, Rajat married to Tina Dhar,
and Amit; and his four grandchildren, Pia, Arjun, Nikhil, and Shurmila.
Funeral Services handled by the Harden Funeral Home of Bayside, Northern Blvd.
at 209th Street. Visiting hours Sunday, 12-3 PM and 5-8 PM. Cremation, Monday.

Simon, Robert Raymond         
SIMON-Robert Raymond, died peacefully at his home on Dataw Island, S.C., July
14, 2005. Bob was born and raised in New York on Long Island. He attended
Governor Dummer Academy in South Byfield, Mass. In 1945, he enlisted in the
U.S. Navy under the V5 program. Under this program, he was sent to the
University of Virginia for one year and then transferred to Duke University
where he earned a BS in engineering. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi
fraternity. Aviation was always a love and a big part of his and his family's
life. His father was a flight instructor in WW I and one of the "Early Birds
of Aviation." A commemorative plaque hangs in the Smithsonian Museum with his
name. Although a "Babe in Arms," Bob witnessed Charles Lindberg's flight in
the Spirit of St. Louis. At 16, he got his pilot's license and then later a
commercial license. He worked for his father's firm, Liberty Aircraft, Inc.
following WW II. Liberty Aircraft was closely associated with the early
aircraft industry giants, Lawrence Sperry, Roy Grumman and Sherman Fairchild.
When Liberty Aircraft closed, Bob then founded his own company, Liberto Aero
in Hauppauge, N.Y. He was a wonderful and active member of many clubs, the
Huntington Country Club, Cold Spring Harbor Beach Club, Indian Hills Country
Club, Dataw Island Club, the "Monday O.F. Club" and the "Thursday Club." He
always loved the ocean and the beach. Growing up as a native Long Islander, he
was a true "clam digger" and "beachcomber." He is survived by his wife of 54
years, Barbara Cruthers Simon of Dataw Island; three sons, Rodney Cruthers
Simon, Jeffrey Walters Simon, Robert Crossley Simon, all of Melbourne, Fla.; a
daughter, Joan Simon Lohr of Ninwot, Colo.; a sister, Marilyn McMennamin of
New Canaan, Conn., and 8 grandchildren. He was a very fine gentleman, beloved
by family and friends. Copeland Funeral Home, Beaufort, S.C., is in charge.
