Born in Brattleboro on January 22, 1916, she was the daughter of George and Elizabeth Danyew. She was predeceased by her husband James S.F. Carter in 1981. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Mary, Ruth Brooks, Florence, George, Elsie Brackett, and Margaret Cooper. Mrs. Carter resided in Oceanside, NY until 1995, at which time she moved to Hilltop House in Brattleboro. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by The A&P Company in New York City for 26 years. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Cynthia Kilian (Walter) of Manchester, NH, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; also nephews, David Cooper of Dix Hills, NY, Philip Cooper of Moorestown, NJ, and several other nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brattleboro, and interment followed in St. Michael's Parish Cemetery.
