Carruba, Josephine F. CARRUBA-Josephine F., 46, of Lancaster, and formerly of Bethpage, NY, died Sunday morning after a long battle with ALS. She was the wife of Joseph Carruba, with whom she would have been married 22 years on this coming December 4th. Born in Astoria, New York, she was the daughter of Thomas Sottosanti, of Mountville, PA, and the late Florence Zimmerman Sottosanti. She had been employed by the Hempfield High School, working in the cafeteria, where she was well known by the students, for 2 years, until her illness 2 years ago. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She enjoyed being a wife and mother, and was a true "hockey mom", following her son's hockey career. She was liked by everyone she met, and was loving friend to many. In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by a son: Joey, Jr. of Lancaster, and a daughter: Samantha Jo, of Lancaster; and a sister: Darlene married to Dennis Sipel, of Conestoga. Born December 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Tatom I, and is survived by his mother, Anita Courtright Tatom. Dr. Tatom was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict. Dr. Tatom had taught at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine for 25 years, and had an active medical practice until he became ill in July of 2004. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Matthew Tatom and wife Tiffany and Dr. Andrew J. Tatom III and wife Sue, both of Lynchburg, VA; six grandchildren, Drew, Alex, Matthew, Austin, Connor and Sawyer, other relatives and friends. Rusty was known and loved for her generous and welcoming spirit, her love of flowers and nature, her active involvement in the Democratic party and her unwavering loyalty to the NY Mets.
