Throughout his ordeal, James displayed fierce courage and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. Squitieri, Alan (Alfonso) SQUITIERI-Alan (Alfonso), age 92, at his home in Gainesville, Florida on June 10, 2005. Born in Italy, Alfonso came to the United States when he was four years old. He was a developer of malls. He had built more than 40 shopping centers, one being "The Oaks Mall" in Gainesville and was the owner of two Jaguar dealerships in New Jersey. He began his career as an elevator operator and had to take his daughter Grace to work with him because of financial problems. Grace likens him to Don Quixote; he was always striving for the big dream. Alfonso is survived by his 72 year old daughter Grace (Amelia) Brandi of Oceanside, New York-her six children, Danette, Danny, Darlene, Dennis, Dawn and Douglas and also 14 grandchildren (Al's great grandchildren). There are also members of the family from other marriages, Dennis of Guttenberg, New Jersey, Sandy of Gainesville, Florida, Christopher (deceased), and also a sister Rose Puglia of Gainesville, Florida. John is survived by his devoted wife Patricia, his beloved children Marianne (David) McGee, Richard (Susan) Wallace, and James (Maureen) Wallace. Cherished grandchildren Anna McGee, Brennan, Ian, Riley, Darcie, Sean Wallace and was anxiously expecting his seventh grandchild. John was a loving brother of Robert, Margaret and William. He also had a large loving extended family. John was a retiree of the NYC Fire Department Eng. 236 and 311. After retirement John was known as the "Pantry Man" of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church. The Wallace's will receive friends and family on Monday and Tuesday between the hours of 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church. A private cremation will follow.
