She was born in Plymouth Township, PA, and grew up in West Nanticoke, PA, moving to Brooklyn, NY many years ago. In 1977 she moved to New Hyde Park, Long Island and in May 2003 she moved to Denville, NJ to live near her son. She had graduated from Kings County Hospital School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY in 1946. She worked for the hospital as a Reg. Nurse and as a teacher in the Nursing Program for over 30 years retiring in 1982. While living in New Hyde Park she was active in the New Hyde Park Civil Patrol, a neighborhood patrol. Her husband Robert died in November 1988 and her son Robert died on September 11, 2001. She is survived by her sons William and his wife Laura of Denville, NJ and Stephen of Brooklyn, as well as her daughter-in-law Kathryn Hussa of New Hyde Park, LI. Five grandchildren also survive, Robert, Thomas, William, Michael, and Nicole and a great grandson Nicholas Robert Hussa. Lerman, Rita Marilyn (Weinstein) LERMAN-Rita Marilyn (nee Weinstein) of Delray Beach, FL on Tuesday, March 1, after a brief struggle with pancreatic cancer. Beloved mother of Pamela Faith Lerman and grandmother of Allison. Born October 11, 1928 to the late Syd and Jules Weinstein and raised next door to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. A graduate of Walden High School, New York University School of Business Education and C. W. Post University, she taught for twenty-five years at PS 24 elementary school in Flushing. A gifted painter, poet and teacher, Rita was married for 42 years to the late Norman Lerman, for whom she cared through nine years of illness. She lived in Bayside, Queens and subsequently in Delray Beach, where she was on the tennis team of Huntington Lakes and volunteered with Brandeis women, ORT and the local police department. She spent summers at the adult Jewish Studies program at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs and in Albany, NY at the home of her daughter Pamela, son-in-law, Rabbi Robert Gluck, her granddaughter and her favorite dog, Max. Funeral services will be conducted at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway, Fairlawn, NJ, on Friday, March 4 at 10am. A memorial service will be held in Delray Beach at a later date, to be announced. He was the coach of numerous championship softball teams. The founder and commissioner of the Island Softball League and later named to the Long Island Metro Softball Hall of Fame. He was a woodworking craftsman, making hand painted and handcrafted figurines, which he gave away to the people he loved. He was a natural artist excelling in oil, charcoal, water paints and then calligraphy without formal training. He loved to cook, loved family and loved life.
