Bagetis, whose Army service in World War II earned him the Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal, succumbed to a long illness on February 27, 2005. He served in the U.S. 3rd Army, 6th Armored Division, Company B from 1942 through 1945, as a Demolition Specialist. Mr. Bagetis is preceded in death by son, Kevin and brother, Gregory. He is survived by five children; Michael, Patricia, John, Brian and Kathleen; five grandchildren, Robert, Kevin, Roger, Christina and Samantha; his great-grandson, Nicolas and two sisters, Ann and Clare. A longtime resident of Centereach, NY, Philip retired to Leesburg, Florida, 15 years ago. He pursued his lifelong hobby of propagating plants, and was proudest of his unique Bonsai creations. He devoted whatever free time he had caring for his tiny poodles, "Rocky" and "Rambo". BASILE-Jack J., Jr., 83, of Pinellas Park, Fla., former longtime resident of Valley Stream, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at home under hospice care. He was born in Inwood, L.I., and was from a family of 10 children. He and his wife moved to Florida in 1995. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of the VFW Oliveri Post in Inwood. He was a plasterer for Local 60 and worked in many famous buildings in Manhattan. He enjoyed playing golf and gardening, and in retirement became quite an artist with paint and canvas. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary; son, Bill; his granddaughters, Annette and Christine; grandson, Charlie; great-granddaughters, Nicole and Michelle; great-grandsons, Robert, Jr., Cody, and Jesse; sisters, Mary and Filomena; brothers, Eddie and Dominic.
