Retired Professor Emeritus Ed.D of Health and Physical Education at Nassau Community College, entered into rest May 3, 2005 at home. Born January 10, 1910 in Manhattan, NY. Dr. Carolan coached Track & Field at Nassau Community College, Garden City, NY. His 20 year career was highlighted by a combined record of 113 wins and 18 losses in track and cross country. He served 27 years as a Track and Cross Country official and was an inspector at the U. S. Olympic Track and Field trials. Patrick was a lifelong sports enthusiast and played on championship-winning paddleball, racketball, tennis and softball teams. In 2002, at 81 years old, Patrick won the 100 meter dash in his age group in the Senior Games of Orange County. Pat remains undefeated in the Senior Games 50 meter and 100 meter yard dash for 32 years both in New York and Florida. Patrick coauthored the only Track & Field Official's Manual ever published and also co-authored one of the first high school health textbooks, Tune into Health and a college health text book. A devout Catholic, Patrick believed that "practicing the Catholic faith during every aspect of my life brings me tremendous peace of mind". While in college he was an active member of the Newman Club. In later years he was a Eucharistic Minister administering sacraments to the sick of Long Island, in Florida and upstate New York. Patrick blended his faith with a zest for his Irish heritage. A lover of Irish music and always quick with a joke - Patrick was a man of great warmth, spirit and sense of humor. His family will miss him terribly especially the love and laughter he brought to their lives. Patrick was the first to admit the real reason for his long and happy life was his wife of 57 years. "Dora is the best thing that's ever happened to me. My wife and kids are all I every really needed to make my life complete."
