from Iceland, on May 9, 2005. Born in Jersey City, NJ, September 19, 1913, son
of the late Michael and Catherine (Beirne) Kane. A long-time resident of
Bellerose, Mr. Kane was a semi-retired CPA, self-employed with the firm,
Dendy, Kane & Pattison, which thrived for more than 50 years. Rarely seen
without a tie and jacket, Mr. Kane was a man with a warm smile and easy laugh.
He enjoyed good company, fine restaurants, and most of all, his family. He was
a devoted parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Church. In addition to his wife
of 47 years, he is survived by his five loving children, Margaret M.
Kane-Smith of Delaware, Michael Joseph of Virginia, Patricia A. Kane-Carlsen
of Connecticut, Richard Nicholas of the Alexian Brothers in Wisconsin and
Katherine E. Kane-O'Connor of North Carolina, as well as seven delightful
grandchildren: Katie, Patrick and Gabrielle Smith, Mali, Joe and Mikaela Kane
and Nicholas Carlsen. He is also survived by his beloved twin sister, Sister
Regina Catherine, OSF, of Allegany, NY. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-5

Kilcullen, Timothy
KILCULLEN-Timothy of Peconic Landing, Greeport, NY (formerly of Deerfield
Beach, FL, twentysix years) and the Bronx, NY on May 7, 2005. He is survived
by his devoted wife of sixty-eight years, Marie (Doyle) Kilcullen; friends for
seventy-six years since they met at age thirteen. Tim and Marie were married
on February 6, 1937 at St. Margaret Mary in the Bronx. He is survived by four
children; John Kilcullen of Savannah, GA, Mary Ann Durkin of Greenport, NY,
Eileen O'Reilly of Hackensack, NJ and Daniel Kilcullen of Hingham, MA. He was
predeceased by a son Timothy Kilcullen. Also surviving are seventeen
grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; a sister Maureen Reis of
Baltimore, MD and her children, Chip and Michael. Tim was an Irish Tenor and
was a passionate lover of singing and was moved to write many songs for his
family's amusement, including "My Prodigious Prolific Progeny". He retired as
a Sergeant with the New York City Police Department after thirtythree years of
service (19431976). He was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in

Beloved husband of Billie. Devoted father of Barbara (Stephen) Heald and
Bernard O. Thomas Jr. and his wife Lisa. Cherished grandfather of Zachary and
Morgan. Bernard taught English at Commack High School South and Suffolk
Community College. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of The Masonic Lodge

Vetere, Louise H. (Gatto)
VETERE-Louise H. (Gatto) 88, of Malverne, NY, formerly of Lynbrook, NY died
Saturday May 7, 2005, following a brief illness. Louise has been a devoted
mother and grandmother; who in her quiet unassuming and insightful way
imparted a strong sense of family and togetherness in her children and
grandchildren. Loved by everyone she touched, Louise was a longtime member of
Christ Episcopal Church, Lynbrook. Louise was the widow of Michael Joseph
Vetere, Sr., to whom she was married for 49 years; the daughter of the late
Maryangela (Dragonetti) and Matthew Gatto; mother of Joyce Milowski of Sea
Cliff, NY, Michael Joseph Vetere, Jr., and his wife Terry of Slippery Rock,
Pennsylvania, Anita Coonan and her husband Patrick of Malverne, NY, and John
Vetere and his wife Mariann of Andover, MA. Louise will always be the devoted
Nana of 13 grandchildren: Alexandra Milowski, Michael Joseph Vetere III, Emily
Vetere, Kathleen Vetere, Timothy Vetere, David Coonan, Lauren Coonan, Phillip
Coonan, Amy Coonan, Matthew Vetere, Adam Vetere, Mark Vetere, and Joseph
Vetere. Family will receive friends, Wednesday 2-5 and 7-9pm, at the Flinch &
Bruns Funeral Home, Inc., 34 Hempstead Avenue (corner Peninsula Blvd.),
Lynbrook. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 12th, 10:00am, at the
Church of the Ascension, 71 North Village Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Wasser, Adolph
WASSER-Adolph, grieving the recent loss of Sylvia, his beloved wife of 56
year, on Sunday May 8, 2005. He was the beloved and admired father of Steven
(Stephanie) and Daniel (Marcia) and grandfather of Jacqueline, Merrill,
Maddie, Caryn and Melissa. Born in Vienna, August 2, 1920, he fled alone to
England in 1938, came to America and returned to Europe with the U.S. Army,
where he earned a bronze star for valor under fire. He received an MSW from
Columbia University and became a leader in the field of Jewish social work,
serving as executive director of the Central Queens Y for 35 years and
co-founding the Central Nassau Y. A man of gentle strength and an intellectual
vigor, he loved classical music, was a generous supporter of Jewish causes,
and was blessed with devoted and loving family and friends.
