Smith, Wilbert SMITH-Wilbert E. 79, born and raised in Oyster Bay, New York, passed on May 15, 2005. He was the last surviving child, out of ten born to George Edmond and Mary Downing Smith. "Spike", as he was lovingly known, enjoyed spending time in Snydersville, Pennsylvania and Naples, Florida when away from his New York home. Though a quiet man, his presence of love in his heart will forever be cherished. He will be missed but never forgotten by family and friends. An Aerial Gunner in WWII, Spike flew 17 missions and received numerous medals and awards. He was retired from the town of Oyster Bay. He will be missed by sons Craig, Mark and Paul along daughter-in-laws Carole (Hauck) and Kim (Ranaldo) in addition to his grandchildren Jason, Brooke, Paul, Michael, Caitlin, Lindsay and Taylor. He was predeceased by his loving wife Grayce (LoBianco) and grandson Tyson.
