Born on July 4, 1916 at Southampton Hospital, William was a graduate of Columbia School of Pharmacy. During WWII, he served aboard the USS Roxanne as a boat group commander. He was a founding owner of Southold Pharmacy, a charter lifetime member of the New York State Archeological Society, and author of "Long Island's First Inhabitants." He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois Estelle (Rodman) Golder, three children; Lois Patricia of Newport, RI, Robert Jon of Falmouth, MA, Richard L. and daughter-in-law Allison of Northport, NY, and grandchildren Richard Jonathan, Christopher Gregory, and Jennifer Rebecca Rose Golder.
