The program raises funds for the Brentwood Teachers Association scholarship fund. As a result, the BTA has Awarded about $20,000 a year in scholarships to graduates of the Brentwood schools. As Treasurer, Lilian handles these funds as well as the receipts of dues and other activities of the Union. It is a large task and one which definitely impacts the students of Brentwood, both culturally and financially. Lilian has also launched a travel club which has made it possible for students to visit other US cities such as Orlando, Philadelphia, Boston and Washington DC. WIMMEL-Lawrence R., of Columbus, NJ, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2005, at his residence. He was 82. Mr. Wimmel was born in New York City. He was a graduate of Adelphi University in New York where he received a degree in Chemistry. Mr. Wimmel served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was an engineer for New York Telephone retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Medford United Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed book club, woodworking, golf, tennis and baseball. Mr. Wimmel is the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (nee Schoeffling). He is the loving father of Lawrence W. (Bobbi) Wimmel of Port Jefferson Station, LI, NY, Chris F. (Bruce) D'Adamo of Denville, NJ, and Matthew F. (Deborah) Wimmel of Beaver Falls, PA. He is the dear stepfather of Howard Johnson, Patricia Lee, Bonnie Richer and Terry Dean, all of Indian Mills. He is the loving grandfather of Brianna, Neall, Edward, Jeffrey and ten stepgrandchildren. He is the brother of Carol Grantges.
