The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.org *********************************************************************** New York County, New York Will Volume #29, page 552 In the Name of God Amen I Peter Aldrich of the Tound of South Hould in the county of Suffolk being very sick and weak in Body but of perfect Mind and Memory thanks be given unto God calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that Is to say principally and first of all I give and bequeath to Phebe my dearly beloved Wife the in dowere movables to be dispose of as she pleseis and the out dower movables to be sould to pay the Debts and five Shillings to my Granson Peter and my Lands to be equilly divided between my two sons Garshem and Enos. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the second day of April and in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and seventy five. For and as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us David Terry, David Terry Juner, David Wells Suffolk County ss. Be it remembered that on the twenty third day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy five personally came and appeared before me Jared Landon Surrogate of the said County David Terry and David Terry Junr, both of the said county of Suffolk Yeomens and being duly sworn on their oaths declared that they and each of them did see Peter Oldritch sign and seal the within written Instrument purporting to be the will of the said Peter Oldritch bearing date the second day of April 1775 and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament that at the time thereof he the said Peter Oldritch was of sound disposing Mind and Memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of them the Deponents and that their names subscribed to the said Will are of their Respective proper hands writing which they subscribed as witnesses in the Testator's presence and that they the Deponents saw David Wells the other Witness to the said Will subscribe his name as Witness thereto in the Testator's presence. Jared Landon, Surr. William Tryon Esquire Captain General and Governor in Chief in and over the Province of New York and the Territories depending thereon in America, Chancellor and Vice Admiral of the same, To Phebe Aldrich Widow and Relict of Peter Aldrich late of Southold int he county of Suffolk yeoman Deceased Sendeth Greeting Whereas the said Peter Aldrich in his lifetime made his last Will and Testament in Writing bearing date the second day of April last and soon after died. And whereas the said Will was at Suffolk County on the twenty third day of May last past before Jared Landon Esquire thereunto Delegated and appointed duly proved and is now approved and allowed of by me I desiring therefore that the Goods Chattles and credits which were of the said Peter Aldrich may be well and faithfully administered converted and disposed of according to the true Intent and meaning of his said Will (a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) Do grant unto you the said Phebe Aldrich full Power to colelct levy recover and receive all and singular the Goods Chattles Rights and Credits of the said Peter Aldrich deceased and the same to administer and dispose of according to the Tenor and effects of his said last Will and as the Law directs you being first in due form of Law to fulfill the Will of the said Deceased and to pay his Debts and Legacies as far as his goods chattles and credits will thereunto extend and the Law bind you and also to make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattles and credits of the said deceased which have and shall come to your hands possession or knowledge and to exhibit the same into the Registry of the Perogative Court of this Province on or before the third day of February next ensuing and to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto lawfully required and I do by these presents nominate constitute and appoint you the said Phebe Aldrich administratrix of all and singular the goods chattles and credits which were of the said Peter Aldrich Deceased together with his will annexed. In Testimony whereof I have caused the Perogative Seal of the Province of New York to be hereunto affixed at the city of New York the third day of August one thousand seven hundred and seventy five.
