CAMPBELL, Retired Executive, Dies Peter A. Campbell, died on Saturday, July 19th, 1941. Age at death: 83 years old. For many years he was affiliated with the H. J. Bool Furniture Company. Born in Canada, he was the son of the late Rev. John Calvin Campbell, a Presbyterian minister, and Elizabeth (n e Reed) Campbell Bool. He came to this country when he was approximately 11 years old. Early in his career he worked in the railroading industry. The type of locomotives he worked on at that time were of the wood-burning type. Later, he became an engineer. His step-father, the late Henry Bool, founded the H. J. Bool Company. After the firm was begun, Peter Campbell left the railway industry to work in Mr. Bool's firm. Further in his career, Peter A. Campbell became President of the H. J. Bool Company. When the company was sold to the Markson Brothers, Inc., Mr. Campbell retired from the company in 1930. Activities: Member of the Ithaca Lodge 71, IOOF and was a past noble grand. Chosen as a committee member for the new State Home being built at the Trumansburg Road location. Political activities: Year 1927: Democratic Candidate for the Office of the Supervisor, Town of Ithaca. Surviving family members: One son, Donald A. Campbell, Chicago, Illinois. One daughter, Mrs. Fred A. Wilcox, Ithaca, New York. Three sisters: Mrs. Mary Orcutt, Owego, New York. Mrs. William Ostrum, Olean, New York. Mrs. Olive Burr, Dryden, New York. Three grandchildren also survive. Funeral: Tuesday, July 22, 1941 at 1:30 p.m. at his daughter's home: 134 Linden Avenue, Ithaca, New York. Church service: 2:15 p.m., July 22, 1941 - Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, North Plain Street, Ithaca. The Reverend Fred Spence will officiate at the funeral church service. Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, New York. Additional Comments: Surnames: Campbell, Bool, Reed, Wilcox, Orcutt, Ostrum/Ostrom, Burr, Bush, Davenport In the original newspaper obituary, Peter Campbell's father was incorrectly identified as the late Rev. Andrew Campbell. His father was the late Rev. John Calvin Campbell, who had served Presbyterian churches in Tioga County, NY and Jefferson County, NY as well as in his native country of Canada. Peter A. Campbell's middle name was Andrew. Peter A. Campbell died in Ovid, New York. Spouse (1): Jennie Sophia Bush. Jennie and Peter were the parents of Don Campbell and Margaret Elizabeth (n e Campbell) Wilcox. A son, Robert, died in infancy. Jennie Sophia Bush was a direct descendent of Conradt Bush, Onondaga County, New York. He was a soldier of the Revolutionary War. Spouse (2): Sarah Davenport. Peter and Sarah had no children together. Both wives are also buried at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ithaca, New York.
