All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.org/ny/nyfiles.htm *********************************************************************** Source: sampubco.com Tompkins co NY Will Book Vol. A. page 156 Written: 6 Mar 1824 Probated: 29 May 1824 Will of Jacob Hendrix of Ithaca, Tompkins Co, New York The last will and testament of JACOB HENDRIX of the town of Ithaca, County of Tompkins and State of New York, considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and purpose following ( that is to say ) First: I give and bequatte to my beloved wife HANNAH HENDRIX all my personal estate goods and chattels of what ---- and natural ----- I give and bequatte to my daughter BETSY the sum of ten dollars which sum of money I will and order to be paid to the said Betsy within two years of my decease. I further give and bequatte to my daughter LYDIA the sum of fifteen dollars which sum of money I will and order to be paid to the said Lydia within one year after my decease. And I further give and devise to my beloved wife HANNAH HENDRIX all that my messuage or tenements situated lying and being in the town of Ithaca, County of Tompkins and State of New York being parts of Lot No 80 is in the old town of Ulyser together with all my other Freeholds ------- which ----- to hold to her the said Hannah Hendrix so long as she remains my widow whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament and after the marriage or death of my wife Hannah Hendrix I divise and give unto my children ; POLLY HENDRIX; SALLY DAVENPORT; CATHERINE HENDRIX; JANE HENDRIX; FANNY HENDRIX; HARRIET HENDRIX; JOHN HENDRIX and ISAAC HENDRIX ---------- and assigns forever the aforesaid previous ------- revoking all former wills by me made. On witness whereof I have thereunto set my hand and seals the sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four. Pelton Thomas Williams William Vanorman Tompkins County, New York: Be it ----------- that on the Twenty Second day of May, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Four, personally came and appeared before me, Miles Finch, Surrogate, of the County of Tompkins, William Vanorman, who being duly sworn, declared that he saw Jacob Hendrix sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the will of the said Jacob Hendrix bearing date the sixth day of March eighteen hundred and twenty four, and heard him publish and declare the same, as and for his last will and testament, that at the time thereof written said Jacob Hendrix was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the disponents, that C. H. Pelton and Thomas Williams together with the disponent ------- and the said wills as witnesses thereto in the testators presence and also on the twenty ninth day of May eighteen hundred and twenty four appeared Hannah Hendrix, executrix in the said will named and was by me duly qualified to the true execution and performance of the said written will by taking the usual oath of executors. Know Ye that at Ithaca in the County of Tompkins on the twenty second day of May in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Four before Miles Finch, Esquire, Surrogate of our said County, the last will and testament of Jacob Hendrix, late of the town of Ithaca in said county deceased ( a copy whereof is hereunto (admitted?) was duly proved and is now approved and allowed of by set. and the said deceased naming which he had and at the time of his death goods, chattels or credits within starts by manner whereof the proving and registering the said will and the ----ting administration of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits and also the auditing and allowing and final discharging the accounts thereof doth belong unto us. Therefore the administrators of all and singular, the goods, chattels and credits of said deceased and any way concerning his will is granted unto Hannah Hendrix, Executrix in the said will named. She being duly sworn will and faithfully to administer the terms and to make and exhibit a true and (perfect?) inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits and also to inter a just and true account thereof whince thereunto required. In testamony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed.
