A page 223 Will of Thomas McKee, Ulster County NY, New Windsor In the name of God amen. I Thomas McKee in the Township of New Windsor in the County of Ulster and State of New York. Yeoman. being weak in Body, but of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in form and manner following/this is to say/ First I commit my body to the dust from whence it was taken and my soul I commend into the hand of almighty God who gave it in hopes of a joyful resurrection through the merits of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and as to the worldly substance which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I give and dispose thereof as followeth_/that is to say/ Imprimis I order my Body to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the direction of my executor herein aftermentioned. Item I order and allow that all my just debts be duly paid and discharged and then I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Margaret her choice of any Room in my House together with a necessary privilege in the celler and to be subsisted and supported with necessities sufficient for her during her natural life, also I give unto my said wife her choice of four cows out of my cattle and six sheep together with all my household furniture to be at her disposal in lieu of dower. also it is my will that two cows and six sheep be kept with pasture and fodder for my said wife on the farm and a half a bushel of flax seed sown for her during her natural life yearly. Item I give and bequeath unto my son James McKee his choice of three of my horses all my farming utensils and all the hogs. Item all the rest and residue of my stock viz cows horses and sheep not herein before willed and bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my three daughters Mary McKee, Margaret McKee and Agnes McKee to be equally divided among them share and share alike. Item all the rest and residue of my estate real and personal not herein before mentioned and bequeathed I give here and bequeath to my said son James McKee to have and to hold to him and his heirs and asigns forever. Item it is my will and I order and allow that my said son James McKee pay unto my said three daughters Mary Margaret and Agnes each the sum of one hundred and ten pounds as they resepectively come of age. Also I order and allow and my will is that my said son James keep and provide for my youngest daughter Agnes in giving her learning and in every respect making her equal to her other sisters and to bring no charge against her so at to be deducted from what it herein willed to her. Item If any of my said children son and daughters should die before me or marriage my will is that the share or shares of them so dying be divided among the survivors of them share and share alive. And I ordain constituted and appoint my said wife Margaret Executrix and my said son James and John Blake Jun Executor of this my last will and testament disannulling and making void all former wills and bequests by me heretofore made declaring this only to be my last will and testament and in testimony where of I have to this my last will and testament sent my hand and seal. Yeoman and being duly sworn on his oath declared that he did see Thomas McKee sign and seal the within written instrument purporting to be the Will of the said Thomas McKee bearing date the twenty second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine and heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament that at the time hereof the said Thomas McKee was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best of the knowledge and belief of him the deponent and that James Lawrence and James Fulton together with the deponent subscribed the said Will as Witnesses thereto in the Testators presence..........Joseph Gosherie Surrogate The People of the State of New York, but the Grace of God Free and Independent; To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Send Greeting. KNOW YE that at Ulster County on the twenty seventh of January instant before Joseph Gasherie Esq Surogate of our said County the last Will and Testament of Thomas McKee deceased/ a Copy whereof is hereunto annexed/ was proved and is now approved and allowed of by us and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the Time of his Death Goods Chattels or Credits within this State by Means where of the proving and registering the said Will and the granting Administration of all and Singular The Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and any Way concerning his Will is Granted unto James McKee and John Blake Jun two of the Executors in the said Will named. They being first duly sworn well and faithfully to administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and Singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true Account thereof when there unto required. In Testimony whereof we have caused the Seal of Office of our said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed Witness Joseph Gasherie Esquire Surrogate of the said County at Kinston the twenty eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred ninety one and of our Independence the fifteenth........
