She had been living with her daughter, Beverly Glaser, for the past 20 years and was in good health and spirits until the last month. She was the wife of the late Thomas Joseph Burns. Born July 10, 1900, in Fort Ann, she was the daughter of George Henry and Agnes (Hunt) Washburn. Edith left Fort Ann in her late 20s and was one of the first to be trained with Western Union. She worked for Western Union in Philadelphia and then Detroit. She traveled to Ireland, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy and Hawaii with her daughter, Beverly, and kept a large journal detailing their many travels. She maintained an active correspondence with lifelong friends and relatives in Washington County. She was blessed with a full life and because of her "spunk" and good spirits, she weathered the trials of aging with good humor. She was a pleasure to be with and a joy to all who knew her. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Allentown, Pa. Survivors include her son, Thomas R. Burns and his wife, Mary Ann, of Allentown; her daughters, Beverly Glaser of Dayton, and Jacqueline Sigethy and her husband, Robert, of Fairfax, Va.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton streets, Allentown, Pa. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service. Foote, Ralph Wilton NORTH CREEK -- Ralph Wilton Foote, 86, of 62 Walter Foote Road, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, North Creek. Born Sept. 10, 1919, in North Creek, town of Chester, he was the son of Walter Douglas and Rose Mary (Goodspeed) Foote. Ralph graduated from Pottersville Central School Class of 1939. On Nov. 25, 1942, Ralph was inducted into the Army Air Corps. He received his honorable discharge on Feb. 13, 1946. He was in the 965 Echelon, Mech. Auto Wheel Veh. 3. He qualified with the M1 and MKM 158. He received the American Service Medal and World War II Victory Medal. The interesting note is, that Ralph only had one eye; he lost the eyesight in his right eye when he was a young lad. He used to tell that when took the eye test to enter the military, he peeked through the fingers to read the eye chart. After military service and like many other Adirondack boys, he returned to the mountains and the love of the outdoors. Ralph liked to fish, but hunting was at the top of the list. He was a charter member of the Ragged Mt. Fish and Game Club, also a former member of the Glendale Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of Pottersville. During his employment career, he worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator. He worked for Blue Ridge Lumber Co., North Hudson, N.Y., North Creek Trucking Co., North Creek. He worked on construction for L. Mayersen & Lone, Lane Construction Co., S.J. Grooves, Callahan Construction Co., and others while construction of the Plattsburgh air base, Gilboa Dam and the Northway were being built. Mr. Foote is predeceased by his parents and brothers, George Foote, Leonard (Bob) Foote, and Edward Foote; sisters, Henrietta Murphy and Beatrice Owens. Survivors include, a longtime companion, Leta Moulton; nephews and nieces, Robert Foote and his wife, Vivian, of Minerva, Philip Foot of North Creek, Brian Foote and his companion, Bonnie Bisaillon of North Creek, June A. Fountain, 72, of Leonard Street and formerly of Queens, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born on Dec. 1, 1932, in Flushing, N.Y., he was the son of the late Edward and Gertrude (Carroll) Fountain. Frederick served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Because of his brave action in the Korean Conflict, he was wounded in the line of duty. Frederick received two Bronze Stars as a result of his actions in the military. For several years, he was employed as a U.S. Postal Service clerk in Queens, N.Y. Frederick grew up and spent most of his life in Queens, until two years ago when he moved to Glens Falls. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing, playing basketball and football. Frederick loved singing to his family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Santos of Glens Falls, two sons, Rick Fountain of Glens Falls and James Fountain of Queens; three grandchildren, Christina Santos, Jason Santos and Shawn Santos, all of Glens Falls; one brother, Roy Fountain of Florida; one sister, Myra DeAngelo of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Holmes, Mary Jane Moreau -- Mary Jane Holmes, 73, of Fort Edward Road, died Saturday morning, April 9, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital, after a long illness. Born April 25, 1931, Bayside, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Anton A. and Minna (Dolecal) Mattson. Mary Jane graduated from Bayside High School in January 1949, and attended Long Island Agricultural and Technical College at Farmingdale, where she studied floriculture and horticulture. There she met her future husband, Ronald A. Holmes, who was in the animal husbandry program. They were married on Oct. 28, 1951. Mr. Holmes passed away on Aug. 19, 1996. Since moving to the Glens Falls area in 1969, Mary Jane had worked as a bookkeeper, a home health aide, and was retired from her last job as a teacher's aide at Moreau Elementary School. Mary Jane's hobbies included her extensive doll and teddy bear collections. She was an avid mystery novel fan, and passed her love of books on to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working on the daily "Jumble" and crossword puzzles in the newspaper. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Nancy Brunelle, and her brother-in-law, Frank Porcaro. Survivors include her daughter, Susan L. Holmes, with whom she resided; her sons, Eric B. Holmes and his wife, Jennifer, of Liverpool, N.Y., and Jeffrey A. Holmes and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Bozeman, Mont.; her brother, Robert A. Mattson and his wife, Edie, of Riverview, Fla.; her sister, Judith Porcaro of Argyle; her brother-in-law, Normand Brunelle of Glen Cove, N.Y.; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth J. (Holmes) Snyder of Pompano Beach, Fla.; she also leaves behind her beloved granddaughters, Elisabeth, Sarah and Ashley Holmes, all of Liverpool; her grandsons, Wyatt and Jason Holmes of Bozeman; her grand-bassets, Cleo and Daisie; her grand-cats, Spooky, Little Guy, Kirby, Wilbur and Poppy; and many nieces and nephews. Hunt, Nancy B. Jackson -- Nancy B. Hunt, 75, passed away Friday, April 8, 2005, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Nancy Ellen Brown was born in Mount Vernon, on Dec. 25, 1929, daughter of the late Colonel L. and Janet (Murphy) Brown. She was a graduate of the Mount Vernon schools, held a B.A. degree from Skidmore and a B. S. degree from Columbia Presbyterian School of Nursing in New York City. She was also a certified school-nurse teacher. Nancy started her career as a visiting nurse with the New York City Visiting Nurse Association. In 1953, she married Oren G. Hunt of Glen Ridge, N.J. They later divorced. In 1956 to 57, she served as an infirmary nurse at Hamilton College in Ithaca. For several years, she was a public health nurse in Park Ridge, N.J., where she had raised her family. She was for many years a school nurse-teacher in Rockland County. In 1980, she relocated to Cambridge with her family, taking a position as a night supervisor at the Mary McClellan Hospital. Shortly thereafter, she accepted the position of discharge planner and after many years of devoted service she retired in 1994. Nancy was the daughter of a nurse, a daughter of hers is a nurse, as is a granddaughter. Everywhere she lived and worked she quickly became widely known, a highly regarded and much-loved advocate of health care and causes, giving especially for children and the elderly. Nancy had many outside interests including gardening, collecting antique glassware, knitting and sewing. She was also involved with the Girl Scouts of America, donating her time and knowledge as an assistant leader, for both of her daughters' troops in Park Ridge, N.J. She will be greatly missed by her family and will be cherished as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include her brother, Dr. Albert L. Brown of Lincoln, Neb.; her three children, Kyle Hunt of Salem, Stacey Hunt of Poultney, Vt., and Christian Hunt of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Amy Jakacki, Heather Lorenzo, William Richter, Kristi Kirk, Joshua H. Nelson, Landon Nelson and Christian M. Hunt; four great-grandchildren, Dylan Jakacki, Haley and Samuel Lorenzo and Logan Bo Richter. Other survivors include Oren G. Hunt, a lifelong and devoted friend; three nieces and several cousins. The family would like to warmly thank Kristi Kirk, granddaughter, for the loving and devoted care that she gave to her grandmother. There will be no calling hours. Marciano, Frank T. Lake Luzerne -- Frank T. Marciano, age 46, of Glens Falls Mountain Road, died suddenly Saturday morning, April 9, 2005, following a short illness at Florida Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. Born and raised on Long Island, N.Y., and later moving to Lake Luzerne, he was the son of Thomas and Angelina (Libasci) Marciano. He was a graduate of Hadley-Luzerne Central School. He has resided in Lake Luzerne for the past 33 years. Frank was the owner of two successful businesses, Marciano Construction of Lake Luzerne and Window World in Corinth. Frank was a loving father, brother, son, uncle and friend. Frank was a well-liked and respected member of the community who enjoyed spending time with his children and taking family vacations. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, spending time relaxing on his boat in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Frank is loved very much and will be missed by all family and friends alike. Survivors include his parents, Thomas and Angelina Marciano of Safety Harbor, Fla.; his longtime love, Elizabeth Fallacara and their two children, Jacqueline Marciano and Joseph Marciano, all of Lake Luzerne; two sisters, Donna Moors of Glens Falls and Lori Marciano of Hudson Falls; one brother, Thomas Marciano Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marion was born on April 13, 1946, in Granville, the daughter of Frank A. who died in 1965, and Harriet A. Miller who died in 2003. She worked as a secretary at State Farm Insurance in Malta, N.Y. Survivors are her brother George Miller Sr. of Wells, Vt., five aunts, Gertrude Haskins of Wells, Vt., Catherine Mattison and Helen Jones, both of Granville and Mary Smith and Florence Monroe, both of North Granville; an uncle, LeRoy Martelle of Rutland; a nephew, George Miller Jr. of Hartford and his children, Nathan and Alexis; and a niece, Jody Baker of Hartford and her children, Cody and Mindy, and a niece, Carrie Bryant of Pawlet, Vt., and her children, Hanna and Emma. Several cousins also survived Marion. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Tatko, Anastasia "Nellie" (Susko) MIDDLE GRANVILLE -- Anastasia "Nellie" (Susko) Tatko passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005, at her home. Born in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of Dmitri Susko and Barbara (Oryniak) Susko. She married Michael J. Tatko Sr. on June 29, 1940, at St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward. Mrs. Tatko graduated from Argyle High School with a Regent diploma, earned a bachelors of science degree from Castleton State College, and a master of science degree in education from Russell Sage College. She taught elementary education for a few years. She was also a payroll clerk for Hilltop Slate Company for 18 years. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael, who passed away Jan. 17, 1992; and infant brother, sister Genevieve Northon and sister, Anne LaSarso. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Tatko Jr. and his wife, Lenore, of Rutland, Vt., and Philip J. Tatko of Middle Granville; three daughters, Chanel Garceau of Fort Myers, Fla., Nancy Jones and her husband, Spencer, of Cape May, Conn., Hse., N.J., Barbara Brescia and her husband, Douglas, of Parish, N.Y.; grandchildren, Todd Araneo of California, Christina Vreeland and her husband, Neil, Carrie Sullivan and her husband, Kevin, and David Clark, all of Massachusetts, Travis Tatko and Brittany Tatko of Rutland, Vt., and eight great-grandchildren. Anastasia is also survived by two sisters, Mary Koncikowski and Sophie Arcuri, both of Fort Edward; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. Published in the Post-Star on 4/12/2005. Toohey, Frank D. Westport, Mass. -- Frank D. Toohey, 95, of Westport, Mass., died Friday, April 8, 2005, at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Florence M. (O'Neil) Toohey. He was born in Fall River, son of the late Michael J. and Annie L. (Carroll) Toohey, and had been a Westport, Mass., resident for the past 63 years. He was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Fall River in 1927, and a graduate of Boston University in 1931. Mr. Toohey was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, Mass., and recipient of the Marian Medal Award. He was a member and avid fund-raiser for various civic and religious organizations. He was vice president of sales and marketing for Time Recorder Company, Gardner, Mass., executive vice president and general manager of O.W. Siebert Company, Gardner, Mass., director of sales for Session Clark Company, Connecticutt, president of F.D. Toohey Associates in Westport, Mass., and W. Hartford, Conn., and owner of Toohey Real Estate Company, Westport, Mass., for 20 years. He is survived by two sons, Frank D. Toohey Jr. of Bristol, R.I. and Michael J. Toohey of Saratoga Springs; three daughters, Mary-Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Glens Falls, Denise F. Toohey of Westport, Mass., and Caroline A. Cooper of Westport, Mass.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Carroll Toohey, John Toohey, Mary Dunn and Honore Toohey. Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, Mass., Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport, Mass., at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport, Mass.
