Born Feb. 3, 1944, in Hague, he was the son of the late Ernest and Carrie (Dunkley) Conlon. Mr. Conlon served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a mechanic for Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Allentown, Pa., for seven years. Previously, he worked for Thermo-King, Allentown, Pa., for 15 years. Mr. Conlon was a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, New Tripoli. He was an avid bowler and golfer for many years. Mr. Conlon was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Carrie (Dunkley) Conlon; and one sister, Roberta Conlon. Survivors include his wife, Holly A. (Shupp) Conlon; three sons, Charles J. Jr., Anthony G. and Timothy E., all of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Ruth Ives of Ticonderoga, Mabel (Pat) Remington of Chestertown, Kathy Ross of Warrensburg, and Doris Dunkley of Tennessee; four brothers, Fletcher Conlon of Pottersville, Frank Conlon of Tennessee, William (Bill) Conlon of Bakers Mills, and Richard Conlon of North River; three aunts, Kate Hunter, Han Cameron and Marg Delsignor, all of Hague; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in Fogelsville, Pa. A gathering of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Dynamite Hill, Chestertown. Doherty, Mary M. CORINTH -- Mary M. Doherty, 84, of Oak Street, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. Born on Nov. 6, 1920, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Hannah (Sweeney) Murphy. Mrs. Doherty graduated from Corinth High School in 1937. She then graduated from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She married Douglas R. "Duffy" Doherty on Nov. 2, 1946, in Corinth. The couple resided in Corinth for many years. He died Oct. 3, 1992, following 45 years of marriage. Mrs. Doherty was employed at Corinth Hospital and then Adirondack Regional Hospital as a registered nurse for 30 years until her retirement in 1974. She also was employed at Saratoga Hospital for a few years. She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth for many years and was a longtime member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Doherty was also a member of the Brookhaven Ladies Golf League for many years. She enjoyed bridge, bowling, playing golf and spending time with her family. Besides her husband and her parents, two sisters, Helen Stevens and Anne Rissland; and one brother, Dennis Murphy, all died before her. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Edwards and her husband, Michael, of Georgetown, S.C. and Denise Anderson of Corinth; two sons, Stephen Doherty and his wife, Kathy, of Whitney Point and Joseph Doherty and his wife, Pat, of Albany; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth, 409 Palmer Ave., Corinth. Gasbrecht, Elly Fort Edward -- Elly Gasbrecht, 93, of The Oaks in Fort Edward, died peacefully at home on Monday, April 11, 2005, in the care of loving friends. Born on Jan. 7, 1912, in Bern, Switzerland, she was the daughter of Jakob and Ella Gass. Elly served an apprenticeship as a dental technician, and completed a cooking course at the Hotelfachschule in Luzerne, Switzerland. She immigrated to the United States in 1952, where she married Joseph Gasbrecht in 1954. When they moved to Washington County in 1963, they enjoyed their country life together. Elly, a consummate cook and baker, loved to share her creations and her knowledge. Her charm and zest for life as well as her passion for politics, nature and the environment, allowed Elly to develop a large circle of wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe, her parents, and brothers. Survivors include her nephews, Marcus and Jurg Gass; her close cousin, Doris Schlafly; her close friends, Sharon and Jurgen Kruger; and a large number of devoted friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Argyle United Presbyterian Church. Friends are invited to gather after the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church. "Bud" South Glens Falls/Florida -- Vernon "Bud" N. Green, 79, a resident of South Glens Falls, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2005, in West Palm Beach, Fla. Born on Dec. 6, 1925, in Moriah, N.Y., he was the son of Gordon and Agnes (Clodgo) Green. He graduated in 1939 from Port Henry High School, second in his class of 35. After graduation from high school, he attended Princeton University until Pearl Harbor Day. He then enlisted for two years with the U.S. Army. After returning home, Bud finished college and entered Albany Law School from where he graduated in 1951. Vernon (Bud) and Florence (Sis) M. Barber were married on Aug. 14, 1949. In an excerpt from the Congressional Record of July 13, 1994, Congressman Jerry Solomon honors Vernon Green with the following regarding his retirement: "Mr. Green graduated from the Albany Law School in 1951, and was admitted to the bar later that year. He began private practice in 1954. He subsequently served as South Glens Falls village justice from 1955 to 1975, South Glens Falls School district attorney from 1960 to 1994, and Moreau town attorney from 1956 to 1994. In those 39 years of service to the community, Mr. Green not only acquired a priceless grasp of local affairs, but conducted himself in a manner that brought credit to his profession. ... I would ask all the members to join me in the tribute to this outstanding attorney and great American." Mr. Green retired from the town and school in June 1994 and continued general practice to date. After overcoming many obstacles, Bud was able to enjoy his passions for golf, bridge and traveling with his wife. Together Bud and Sis wintered in Florida. Many organizations benefited from Vernon's membership, including American Legion from 1947, American Bar Association from 1989, Saratoga County Bar Association from 1954, Warren County Bar Association from 1952 and Holy Name Society of St. Michael for several years. The Rotary Club of South Glens Falls bestowed its top honor, a Paul Harris Fellowship, on him for recognition of his service. He was a member from 1954 to date, having served as a past president. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, James, who passed away in March 1969. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Florence (Barber) Green of South Glens Falls, his daughter, Kathy Ann Green of South Glens Falls; and his sister, Constance Green of Arlington, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls. Iuliucci, Marjorie Corinth -- Marjorie Iuliucci, 74, of Route 9N, formerly of Fort Edward, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born March 14, 1931, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Adelaide (Craft) King. Marjorie married James Iuliucci May 1, 1953, at St. Joseph's Church, Fort Edward, and they were able to share 52 years together. She enjoyed the Northeastern Country Music Association, cooking, gardening, knitting, and scratch-off lottery tickets. Most of all, Marjorie loved spending time with her family. Besides her parents, her brother Emery (Bud) King predeceased her. Survivors besides her husband, James Iuliucci, include her sons; James Iuliucci and his wife, Judy, of Fort Edward; John Iuliucci and his wife, Dale, of Fort Edward; Joseph Iuliucci and his wife, Linda, of Owensboro, Ky.; and Jeff Iuliucci of Hudson Falls; her grandchildren, Jodie Smith and her husband, Peter, Stephanie, Andrew, John, Matthew, Michael, Colleen, Jeffrey and Zackary Iuliucci; her great- grandchildren, Jacob and Chloe; her brothers, Mike King of New Mexico and Tom King of Gansevoort; her sisters, Eleanor Strode of Vermont and Terry Conklin of South Glens Falls; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Published in the Post-Star on 4/13/2005. Riley Jr., John T. "Jack" GLENS FALLS -- John "Jack" T. Riley Jr., 79, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2005, at the Albany Nursing Home after a long illness. Born March 2, 1926, he was the son of John Riley Sr. and Angelus Hoag Riley. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy after graduating from Glens Falls High School, and served his country as a gunner's mate 2nd class aboard the USS Astoria, stationed in the South Pacific. Upon his return he joined his father as an ironworker and helped build the Glens Falls National Bank building, as well as the "twin bridges" over the Hudson. He was an ironworker for 30 years. Jack loved sports, and played for several seasons with the local Glens Falls semipro football team, the Commodores. After he became ill, his main interest was reading and he continued to follow all the local as well as national sports teams. He had a great sense of humor, and liked a good joke. He will be missed very much. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Riley; his brother, Robert Riley; a niece, Donna Cowles Byrd; a nephew, Thomas Cowles; and his beloved dog, Abby. He is survived by his first wife, Dorothy Riley of Hudson Falls; one son, David Riley and his wife, Sharon, of Glenville; two daughters, Joan Riley of Queensbury and Lisa Henderson and her husband, Tom, of Queensbury; two grandsons, Kellen and Jaysen Henderson of Queensbury; one sister, Elizabeth Riley Cowles and her husband, Edward, of Staunton, Va.; four nephews, Father James Cowles, Daniel Cowles, and Kevin Cowles, all of Staunton, Va., and Robert Riley Jr. of Saratoga Lake; two nieces, Susan Cowles of Staunton Va., and Nancy Stark of Schenectady, and several cousins. Rukat, Richard Scott Salisbury, MD -- Richard Scott Rukat, 31, of Salisbury, Md., died Monday, April 11, 2005, in the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. Born in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Garry Richard Rukat and Barbara (Crosier) Hurd. Mr. Rukat was a 1991 graduate of Hudson Falls High School, a 1994 graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College and a 1998 graduate of Buffalo State College. He was proud to be the first Rukat within his family to graduate from college with a bachelor's degree. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning Eagle Rank in 1991, and is a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. He attended one world and two national jamborees. As an adult leader he earned a district award of merit and attained the James E. West Award. He was fortunate enough to pursue the most rewarding career as a commissioned professional scout. He also was a member of Rotary International, serving as a leader for their community service youth group in New York, and as public relations committee chairman in Maryland. In addition, he has served with the United Way as a board member. He is survived by his wife, Jody Jean Rukat; two children, Meghan Jean Rukat and Katharine Jean Rukat, both of Salisbury, Md. Born in Glens Falls on Oct. 26, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Herbert J. and Mary Ann (Polunci) Bennett. She graduated from Hudson Falls High School in 1973. Her enjoyments included camping and shopping, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Sherwood had been employed at Westmount Health care Facility for 16 years, followed by employment in the cafeteria at Fort Ann Central School for 2-1/2 years. She was also predeceased by a brother, Herb J. Bennett; a niece, Della LaBrake; and a nephew, Kiffer Bennett. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Gene R. Sherwood; a son, Gene R. Sherwood Jr. and his companion, April Ashline; two daughters, Heather Sherwood and her companion, J.R.
