MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. -- Francis J. Flynn, 88, passed away at his home in Madeira Beach, Fla. on Saturday, March 5, 2005. Mr. Flynn was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Mechanicville.He lived with his wife and family in the Mechanicville, Stillwater, Greenwich/Easton area. He was the owner and operator of Flynn Brothers Well Equipment Co. for more than 50 years. Mr. Flynn was a past member of the Goodnoflow Association, Moose and Elks Clubs, Arvin Hart Fire Department and the Stillwater Rod and Gun Club. Francis was very active in the Republican Party in Saratoga County and the town of Stillwater and held multiple leadership roles in these organizations. His favorite pastimes included boat racing and boxing and he earned many amateur awards in both of these sporting fields. In 1995, Francis retired full time to his home in Marathon, Fla.; prior to that, he and his wife, Margaret, were part-time "snowbird" residents in Marathon, beginning in the late 1960s. Francis loved the Keys and spent many wonderful hours fishing, boating, swimming and enjoying the natural beauty of the islands with his family and friends. Due to health reasons, Mr. Flynn moved from the Keys to Madeira Beach, Fla., in 2002. Mr. Flynn was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Margaret Taylor Flynn, on Jan. 29, 1984; and his son, Daniel Arthur Flynn on Feb. 18, 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth A. Ziegler and her husband, James, of Clifton Park, and Linda M. Flynn of Madeira Beach, Fla.; his son, James S. Flynn and his wife, Carolyn R., of Fort Edward; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Flynn (Mrs. Daniel A. Flynn); and several nieces and nephews. Mr Flynn was very proud of his 10 grandchildren and of his several great-grandchildren. A Memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Greenwich. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will receive guests and friends at the Greenwich Elks Lodge No. 2223, 130 Bulson Road, corner of Route 140 and Bulson Road, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. All are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in the form of contributions to a charity of one's choice. Published in the Post-Star on 4/17/2005. Gray, Thomas H. Gansevoort -- Thomas H. Gray, 79, of Fortsville Road, Gansevoort, passed away Friday, April 15, 2005, at his home after a short illness. Born May 9, 1925, in Gansevoort, he was the son of the late Ernest T. and Inez (Howe) Gray. Mr. Gray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. He retired from Finch, Pruyn & Co., Inc., in 1992 after many years of service. His greatest enjoyment was his time spent with his family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Betty R. (Scribner) Gray, who passed away July 25, 1995; also three brothers, Merwin, Terry, and Lyle; and his sister, Jane, all predeceased him. Survivors include his children, Terry L. Jones and her husband, Michael W., of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Gary T. Gray and his wife, Kathy, of North Carolina, Joanne I. Robinson and her husband, Bruce J., of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Rebecca R. Amadon and her husband, William P., of Gansevoort; his grandchildren: Douglas and Aaron Jones, Nichole, Gary, Bryan, and Thomas Gray, Alison and Catie Robinson, and Nate and Jared Amadon; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, and Steven Jones. Prosser, John Jay Warrensburg -- John Jay Prosser, 81, of Stacey Street, Warrensburg, passed away Thursday evening, April 14, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born Sept. 1, 1923, at the old homestead on Prosser Road, Lake George, he was the son of the late Leslie and Bertha (Pratt) Prosser. He attended the North Caldwell one-room schoolhouse through grade school, leaving at a young age to help take care of his family chores. While drinking soda and listening to the jukebox at Mike's Diner on Main Street in Warrensburg, he met Gertrude J. Crandall, and later married her Dec. 22, 1947, at Warrensburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank Cubit officiating. John continued to be a self-employed hard worker, working mainly in the woods hauling pulp, or as a laborer for various businesses in the area, until his retirement in 1983. In John's younger years, he always looked forward to weekend square dancing at the Ye Ole Barn on High Street in Athol. He also enjoyed fishing, smoking his pipe, playing poker, looking for a dream in the Lottery tickets, drinking a beer or two while listening to country music, and talking of the good old times with family and friends. Most recently, he and his wife, Gert, were often seen at Bill's Restaurant in Warrensburg drinking coffee, enjoying the evening with the local folks. Whatever John did, it was always centered around his large family of kids, grandkids and friends acting as the hub in the center of a large wheel. We will miss you so much, Poppy! Besides his parents, a son, Robert Tennant; a brother, Winston Prosser; a sister-in-law, Ruth Prosser; and a brother-in-law, Herbert Wood; all predeceased him. Survivors include his loving wife, Gertrude Prosser, of 58 close years; three sons, John Tennant and his wife, Sandra, Dennis Prosser and his wife, Doris, and Clint Prosser and his wife, Virginia, all of Warrensburg; five daughters, Patty Bills and her companion, Bobby Hayes, Marsha Barrett and her husband, Leo, Brenda Johnson, all of Warrensburg, Susie Decarli of Lake Luzerne, and Shelly Goucher and her husband, Phil, of Hadley; 32 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leslie Prosser Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Warrensburg, Curtis Prosser of North Creek, and Orlin Prosser of Connecticut; one sister, Ruth Wood of Athol; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Friends may call upon the family Tuesday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following the calling hours, with the Rev. Alan Brokaw of the Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg, officiating. Burial will take place at Warrensburg Cemetery, Warrensburg, following the funeral service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Warrensburg Emergency Squad for their many responses to John's home, and necessary trips to the Glens Falls Hospital, and to the staff at 3WB Oncology Unit at Glens Falls Hospital, for their care and comfort provided to John in his last few months. Roberts, 89, of Fourth Street, South Glens Falls, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1915, in Point AuRoche, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Moore) Vosburgh. Nita and her late husband, Armand, owned and operated A.J. Laundromat in South Glens Falls for many years. Nita was predeceased by her husband, Armand O. Roberts, who died in 1990; her aunt, Esther Millard and her sister, Beatrice Vosburgh, who both died in 2000; her son-in-law, William (Bill) Potter and her Aunt Juanita Millard, who both died in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Potter of South Carolina; her cousin Beverly Ripley of Argyle; her granddaughter, Nancy Walsh and her husband, Brian, of Rensselaer; her grandson, Jeffrey Major and his wife, Donna, of Charlton, N.Y.; and her great-grandchildren: Michael Major of North Carolina, Marie Major of Massachusetts, and Alan Croft of Charlton, N.Y. Their will be no calling hours at the request of the family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Father C. Michael Abraham, pastor of the Chapel of the Archangel Gabriel, officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery. Trask, Osborne "Ozzie" Granville -- Osborne "Ozzie" Trask, passed away following a short illness on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Ozzie was born on Oct. 10, 1919, in East Boston, Mass., the son of Charles Edward and Sylvia M. (Vermynck) Trask. Ozzie attended the Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking in New York City and worked as a watchmaker. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Granville. Ozzie enjoyed fishing, golf and playing bridge. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandsons. Ozzie served during World War II, in New Guinea, in the Army Air Corps. Ozzie was married to Angeline (Furlo) Trask. This June, they would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Ozzie was predeceased by a daughter, Martha Trask; and a sister, Rose (Trask) Gould. Survivors in addition to his wife Angie are a daughter, Diane (Dolly) Liebig and her husband, Truman, of North Hebron; two grandsons, Douglas Liebig and his wife Dana, and Jeffrey Liebig and his wife, Bridget; also two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. Thomas Zelker presiding.
