In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Robert John Brooks III of Hudson Falls; her maternal grandparents, John and Patricia Stone of Hudson Falls; her maternal great-grandmother, Rita Boisclair of Salem; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Gail Brooks of Wilton; her paternal great-grandmother, Ruth Filkins of Mechanicville; her maternal grandfather, Larry Johnson Sr. of Argyle; several aunts and uncles; four special cousins, Michael and John Wood of Argyle and Randy and John of Hudson Falls; and several more cousins. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., in Hudson Falls. Following calling hours, all are welcome to the home of Larry and Sheila Johnson at 293 County Route 43, in Argyle. Chase Jr., age 84, formerly of Ephratah, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown. Born Feb. 22, 1921, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of Roland and Harriet Thornton Chase. He served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. His employment as a glove maker throughout his lifetime was appreciated by his employers at Acme Glove Co. and Daniel Hayes Glove Co. in Gloversville, and the Noone Glove Co. in Johnstown. Mr. Chase was married to Esther M. Smith, who died in 1983. He later married Margaret Polmateer Saltsman, who died in 2004. He is survived by two sons, Douglas W. Chase (Pat) of Gloversville and Dale P. Chase (Linda) of Mayfield; three grandchildren: Kevin Chase, Amy Weaver and Katherine Smith; and several great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Hopkins, Amelia Leona "Bess" TICONDEROGA -- Amelia Leona "Bess" Hopkins, 87, of Alexandria Avenue, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center of Burlington, Vt. Born in Ticonderoga, June 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Kittie (McCabe) Eichen. Mrs. Hopkins was a veteran of the U.S. Women's Army Corp,. having served during World War II. She had been a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga, and was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1935. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. Before her retirement, Mrs. Hopkins was employed by Dr. Beers as a dental assistant for several years. She also was the bookkeeper for her father's business, Eichen's Lumber Mill. Mrs. Hopkins enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, bird watching, and was a crosswords enthusiast. But most of all, she was an accomplished homemaker and a loving mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Hopkins, on Aug. 26, 1992. She was also predeceased by four brothers: Richard Eichen, Paul Eichen, James Eichen and Lawrence Eichen; and three sisters, Belle Kolysko, Blanche Rivers, and Virginia Mattison. Survivors include her twin sons, Daniel J. Hopkins of Ticonderoga and Donald P. Hopkins of Bridgeport, Conn.; one sister, Barbara Dowdle and her husband, James, of Norwood, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Frank Carney of Sabbath Day Point; and three grandchildren, Christin, Jennifer, and Gabriel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. The Rite of Committal will follow at the family plot of the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. Roberts, 89, of Fourth Street, South Glens Falls, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1915, in Point AuRoche, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Moore) Vosburgh. Nita and her late husband, Armand, owned and operated A.J. Laundromat in South Glens Falls for many years. Nita was predeceased by her husband, Armand O. Roberts, who died in 1990; her aunt, Esther Millard and her sister, Beatrice Vosburgh, who both died in 2000; her son-in-law, William (Bill) Potter and her Aunt Juanita Millard, who both died in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Potter of South Carolina; her cousin Beverly Ripley of Argyle; her granddaughter, Nancy Walsh and her husband, Brian, of Rensselaer; her grandson, Jeffrey Major and his wife, Donna, of Charlton, N.Y.; and her great-grandchildren: Michael Major of North Carolina, Marie Major of Massachusetts, and Alan Croft of Charlton, N.Y. Their will be no calling hours at the request of the family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main St., South Glens Falls, with the Rev. Father C. Michael Abraham, pastor of the Chapel of the Archangel Gabriel, officiating. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery.
