Hudson Falls -- Lois L. Hoy, born June 2, 1912, wife of Charles S. Hoy who passed away June 20, 2002, passed away comfortably, Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, 2005, at her home. She was the mother of Marilyn Hoy-Youngblood and C. Nelson Hoy, who are deeply blessed and will be eternally grateful for the love and care she received the last two years of her life in the home of Debbie and Roger Passino of Hudson Falls. Mother was content, and appreciated being included in their family, and greatly enjoyed the attention of their children and grandchildren. She graduated from Wheelock College, taught kindergarten for 20 years, celebrated 64 years of marriage, and was active at Christ Methodist Church after retiring to Queensbury and Thurman. She and her late husband, Charles, were known as active, independent and interesting people. She will be remembered as always gracious and eternally positive. We will miss her and send our love with her on her journey. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made, in loving memory of Lois, to Washington County Hospice, or to a Hospice of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Maynard D. Jalet, 67, of South Windsor, Conn. died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Manchester Memorial Hospital, Manchester, Conn. Born on Nov. 9, 1937, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late J. Earl Jalet and Irene (Brisebois) Jalet. He had lived in South Windsor for the last 36 years. Before retiring in 2001, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, serving in South Windsor. Mr. Jalet was a member of the U.S. Navy, enjoyed studying war history and was a collector of model cars. He leaves his former wife, Eileen G. Jalet of South Windsor, Conn.; a son and his wife, Brian and Kimberly Jalet of Hampton, Conn.; two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Jess Vogelsang of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Cathleen and Robert Andre of South Windsor, Conn.; a sister, Eileen M. Jalet of Long Island, N.Y.; a grandson, Cedar Andre; and a nephew and his wife, Daniel and Petra Taylor of New York City, N.Y. He was predeceased by a son, Michael N. Jalet. Smith, 76, of Palmer Avenue, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital with her loving family at her side. Born on April 1, 1929, in AuSable Forks, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Norma Santo. She married Thomas J. Smith on Sept. 16, 1947, in Ausable Forks. The couple resided in Corinth for many years and had a beautiful marriage of 57 years. When she was younger, Mrs. Smith worked at Lanfears Store by the Corinth School on Oak Street. All the kids would call her "Mom" because that was what she was to them. She was a loving and caring person always putting family and friends first. She was in poor health for years but never complained. Mrs. Smith was a devoted communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Corinth and had a strong faith. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 50 years and received her 50 year pin from the Court McLaughlin No. 422 of Saratoga Springs. Besides her parents, one infant son, Joseph, and one brother, Harland Santo, died before her. Survivors besides her husband of 57 years include five children, Jeffrey Smith of Delaware, Susan Groff and her husband, Larry, of Malta, Christopher Smith and his wife, Cathy, of Corinth, Daryl Smith and his wife, Sandy, of Corinth, and Diane Petteys and her husband, Gene, of Lake Luzerne; one sister, Vivian Passino and her husband, Francis, of Corinth; one sister-in-law, Marie Rock of Keeseville; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 409 Palmer Ave., Corinth with the Rev. Charles Gaffigan, pastor, officiating. A Rite of Committal will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Corinth. Following the committal, friends and family are invited to share fellowship at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Heath Street, Corinth. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.
