Born in Tapolca, Hungary, on June 6, 1936, the son of Jozsef and Margit (Halos) Horvath. Louis came to the United States in 1956, and married Maria (Toth) Horvath on Dec. 27, in New Brunswick, N.J. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward. Louis retired from James River Paper Company after 25 years as a supervisor in the paper mill. He was an avid handy man who could fix just about anything. Louis was predeceased by three brothers. Survivors besides his wife of Fort Edward include two sons, Robert L. and his wife, Julia, of Lake Luzerne and Zoltan and his wife, Cindy, of South Glens Falls; two grandchildren, Nicole and Zachary, both of South Glens Falls; his sister, Julia Horvath of Hungary; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Hungary. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward (www.kilmers.com) A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Edward. Williams, 78, of Washington Place, Cliff Haven, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at the Clinton County Nursing Home, in Plattsburgh. He was born in Glens Falls, on Nov. 13, 1926, the son of Ralph E. and Esther (Williams) Williams. Mr. Williams attended the Practice School of Plattsburgh State Normal School (Campus School), Class of 1940, and was a member of the Plattsburgh High School's Class of 1944. He graduated from Glens Falls High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In January of 1950, he graduated from Colgate University. He joined Socony-Vacuum Oil Company in the fall of 1951, and at the time of his retirement in 1988, Mr. Williams was the Territory Manager for Mobil Oil Corporation in Northern New York and Vermont. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Patricia A. Lawson of Plattsburgh; five children: Daniel R. and Brenda Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, Camille W. LaChat of Colorado Springs, Colo., James P. and Cynthia Williams of Cumberland Head, Scott R. Williams and Marie Szpila of Dannemora, and Walter L. and Amanda Williams of Fairfax Station, Va.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, in the First Presbyterian Church, in Plattsburgh. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Glens Falls Cemetery. "Uncle Bill" Winslow, age 91, formerly of 330 Main St., died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2005, at Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa where he had been a resident since 2002. Born on Oct. 12, 1913, in Hadley, he was the son of James A. and Anna (White) Winslow. Bill and his family moved to Corinth when he was a young boy. He attended Corinth schools. He married Alma V. Gilbert on Nov. 6, 1936, at the Wesleyan Parsonage in Glens Falls. Mrs. Winslow died on March 17, 1998. Bill was employed as Super calendar foreman at International Paper Company in Corinth, from May 25, 1937 until his retirement on Nov. 1, 1975. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club of the mill. He also worked part-time for the Saratoga County Sheriff's Department as a deputy and served as a Committeeman for the Village of Corinth. Bill loved to visit with family and friends at Jack's Place. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, splitting wood and camping, especially at Eighth Lake. He was a member of the Long Lake Hunting Club. He faithfully attended the Spirit of Life South Corinth United Methodist Church for over 25 years. Bill was pre-deceased by his wife; one sister, Anna Duell and two brothers, Arthur Winslow and Alex Winslow. Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Estill and her husband, Wally, of Corinth; one sister, Madeline Gilbert of Corinth; one brother, Edward Winslow and his wife, Annabelle, of Corinth; a sister-in-law, Anne Winslow of Kirkville, several nieces, nephews and cousins. There are no calling hours scheduled. In honor of Bill's love of the outdoors, there will be a graveside service conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Corinth Rural Cemetery, Corinth, with the Rev. Judy Humphrey Fox, pastor of the Spirit of Life South Corinth United Methodist Church, officiating. Following the service there will be a celebration of Bill's life with refreshments at the Pagenstecher Park pavilion, Palmer Avenue, Corinth.
