"Mac" HARTFORD -- Malcolm J. "Mac" Atkinson, 85, of Hartford, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at the Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, after a short illness. Born on April 13, 1920, in Pawlet, Vt., he was the son of the late Ernest R. and Edith (Bradway) Atkinson. Mac was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the 36th Division during World War II. He was a prisoner of war for a year and a half. For his meritorious service and injuries received in the line of duty, Mac was awarded The Purple Heart and Two Bronze Stars. His wife of 63 years, Louise Atkinson, passed away in April of 2003. Mac worked for Sandy Hill Iron & Brass in Hudson Falls, for more than 30 years. He was a member of the South Hartford Congregational Church, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6196 in Queensbury, a member of the Anolia Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, a lifetime member of the Texas 36th Division Association, a member of the Herschel Lodge No. 508 of the Free and Accepted Masons, the American Society of Dowsers and a charter member of the Hartford Fish & Game Club and Rifle team. According to Mac's family, he loved helping people. He enjoyed living on his mountain and being with his family. Mac also loved hunting and fishing. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Atkinson and a sister, Shirley Atkinson. Survivors include his three daughters, Marlene Moore and her husband, Thomas, of Hartford, Mary Ellen Pike and her husband, William, of Hartford and Anita Butler and her husband, David, of Provincetown, Mass.; his four grandchildren, David Pike and his wife, Olivia, Tonya Wright and her husband, Chris, Julie Pike and Carrie Atchison and her husband, Fred; his four great-grandchildren, Jackson Pepper, Fiona Atchison, Ethan Pike and Cedar Lim; his sister, Laura Sweet of Hudson Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many very dear friends. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, following the calling hours at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Richards, pastor of the Hartford Yoked Parish, officiating. Burial will be in Pine View Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Aubrey, Harold F. CAMBRIDGE -- Harold F. Aubrey, 68, a resident of Rexleigh Road, Cambridge, N.Y, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt. Born in Adamsville on Oct. 25, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Irene B. (Burwash) Aubrey. He received his education in Hartford. He married the former Joann Lauzon on March 6, 1976, in Cambridge. Harold was a farmer most of his life and also drove a milk truck for many years. For 15 years Harold and Joann owned a farm in Cambridge. He was last employed by the town of Cambridge until he was forced to retire due to ill health. Harold enjoyed talking on the CB radio and watching NASCAR. Survivors include his wife, Joann Aubrey of Cambridge; two daughters, Carlyn Johnson and her husband, Scott, of Syracuse, and Mary Aubrey of Hudson Falls; two sons, Mark Aubrey and his wife, Rebecca, of Hartford, and Harold "Chip" Aubrey Jr. of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Ashlee, Andrew and Danielle Aubrey, all of Hartford; five brothers and their wives: Robert B. and Jean Aubrey of Hartford, Willard D. and Doris Aubrey of Adamsville, Donald L. and Nancy Aubrey of Granville, Richard J. and Betty Aubrey of Adamsville and Gordon D. and Pat Aubrey of Argyle; a sister, Claire R. Hamilton and her husband, Donald, of Blue Mountain Lake; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Julie Ann Aubrey; a sister, Margaret Aubrey and a brother, Howard G. Aubrey. Funeral services will be held from the McClellan Funeral Home, East Broadway, Salem, Friday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Glenn Hamilton, pastor of the Rensselaer Open Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot at Morning Side Cemetery in Hartford. Friends may call at McClellan Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Farrell, 82, of State Route 28, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, after a long illness at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 7, 1923, at the same home at which he passed away. He was the son of the late Howard and Harriet (Hughes) Farrell. Pete was a lifelong resident of Indian Lake, and graduated from Indian Lake High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp. in 1943, and served in Mississippi, Fla. and Alaska. Upon returning home, he married Mary Combs in North Creek on Sept. 18, 1948. Pete worked for Barton Mines Corp. in North River for 22 years before he and his wife established Ste. Marie General Store in Indian Lake. The couple owned and operated the store for over 27 years before retiring in 1990. Walking, gardening and wintering in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. with his wife were a few of his favorite pastimes. Besides his parents, his two sisters, Annastacia Burnett and Sherdine Denton, have both predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary C. Farrell of Indian Lake; his three daughters, Patricia Farrell of North Creek, Linda Mitchell and her husband, Peter, of Indian Lake, Cathy Aldous and her husband, George, of Indian Lake: seven grandchildren: Mary Farrell, Peter Farrell, Justin Mitchell, Emma Aldous, Cindy Mitchell, Lisa Aldous and Trudy Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Peter, Bailey and Ian Farrell; three sisters, Mable Leonard of Albany, Catherine Snyder of Boston, Mass., and Wilma Farrell of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Private family services will be conducted on Friday at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, North River, with the Rev. Paul Miller, pastor of the Indian Lake First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, North Creek. Wheeler Haigh, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in England, she was the daughter of Albert and Jesse (Beard) Hudson. During World War II she served in the British Fire Brigade with the rank of captain. Following the end of World War II she came to the United States, married her first husband, Kenneth, and became a citizen. During Stella's life she was a homemaker, an executive secretary for the Hudson Falls School system and retired as a well known travel agent for Heber Travel Agency in Queensbury. On Aug. 10, 1999, she married Andrew D. Haigh, with whom she shared her love of music, travel and family. She was a devoted wife and mother whose passion was spending time with her family and friends and who enjoyed traveling throughout the world. Besides her parents, Stella was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth S. Wheeler, on March 9, 1973; her sisters, Valerie Hale, Phyllis Bond and Muriel Hudson and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Andrew D. Haigh of Bolton Landing; a son, Stephen K. Wheeler and his wife, Susan ,of Harleysville, Pa.; two daughters, Kristine W. Kaye and her husband, Michael, of Hudson Falls, and Sandra K. Rist and her husband, Harold, of Queensbury; a stepson, William Haigh and his wife, Jennifer, of Potsdam; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Haigh Knoblock and her husband, John, of Truckee, Calif.; eight grandchildren: David K. Wheeler, Jeannie M. Joyce, Kimberley S. Kaye, Kevin P. Tucker, Tracy K. Tucker, Michael S. Rist, Kristin D. Brewer and Andrew S. Knoblock; 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, A. John Hudson of Ontario, Canada. At Stella's request, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Patten, 66, formerly of Adamsville, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Queensbury. Born on Sept. 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James and Evelyn (Walsh) Patten. Besides her parents, Kathleen was also predeceased by her brothers, Richard Patten, Clifford Patten and James Patten. She was a 1959 graduate from Hartford Central School, and a member of the Adamsville Baptist Church. One of Kay's many enjoyments, was playing bingo at the nursing home with her friends. Survivors include her brothers: Robert Patten, Edward Patten, Howard Patten, and Raymond Patten; her sisters: Ida Dessaint, Betty Duell, Mildred Paradis, Dorothy Claire, Gladys Flynn and Elaine Benson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. At Kathleen's request there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Kamron was loved by his family and will be missed by his mommy and daddy, his maternal grandparents, Audrey and Shannon Tucker, and Floyd and Christine Russell, all of Queensbury, and Laurie and Ralph Labarge of South Glens Falls; his aunt, Crystal Russell, cousin, Bailey, his uncle, Levi Russell and his wife, Rebecca, and uncle, Cody Russell and aunt, Jolene Hayes.
