Hansen, Sandra Joyce HULETTS LANDING -- Sandra Joyce Hansen, 73, a six-year resident of Huletts Landing, and previous to that a lifelong resident of Nyack, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, after several years of declining health. Born on March 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel Demerest, also of Nyack. She graduated from Nyack High School in 1950. There, she met and fell in love with her future husband, William C. Hansen Jr., also a lifelong resident of Nyack. When her children grew older, she returned to the work force and gave 25 years to the Nyack Public School system as a teacher's assistant. After the death of her husband, Sandy relocated to their summer home in Huletts Landing, on beautiful Lake George, where they had shared many carefree retreats with their many friends who had grown dearer each year. Her great passion was travel and in the last year alone, had visited South Africa, Germany, Mexico and the Napa Valley. She was active in her church and with her golf and bridge buddies. Sandy was an indomitable spirit who not only overcame much in the last six years, but was a model of grace under pressure and triumphed over adversity. She never complained, always had a kind word, made friends effortlessly and possessed a deep and abiding faith in her Creator. She was predeceased by both her parents, her sister, Barbara "Bobbie," and her husband, Bill. Sandy leaves behind her daughter, Karen H. Sherer and her husband, Kirk, and their two daughters, Katharine and Karleigh of Round Rock, Texas; and her son, William Christopher Hansen and his wife, Pam, and their three children, Kyle, Courtney and Chad, of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.
