Saratoga Springs -- Mrs. Nona E. Bailey of Woodlawn Commons in Saratoga Springs, New York passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at The Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital after a brief illness. She was 88. Mrs. Bailey was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to the late John F. Yates and the late Mary Greene. A graduate of Tuskegee Institute, Mrs. Bailey served as supervisor of the New York Telephone Company in Saratoga Springs for 20 years. On 1968 after graduating from Russell Sage College, she embarked on a 12-year teaching career at Corinth Central Schools. After retiring, she worked part-time as a switchboard operator at Four Winds Hospital for six years. Her ex husband Samuel Bailey preceded her. In her 58 years as a resident of Saratoga Springs. Mrs. Bailey was a loyal, faithful and devoted member of the Mt Olivet Baptist Church for over 40 years serving as Church Clerk, Church Treasurer, Trustee and Choir Member. She also served as a volunteer for many community and professional organizations. She served as president of the Saratoga Springs Business and Professional Women's organization, secretary to the Saratoga Springs Senior Citizens. Researched in the Saratoga Hospital Doctor's Library for two years, charter member and president of Beta Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international organization for outstanding female educators, assisted in the organization of Operation Joy. Mrs. Bailey is survived by two nephews, Victor Dyer of Inglewood, Calif., and Jason Edwards of Palmdale, Calif.; two very special friends, Gloria J. Stevens of Saratoga Springs, and Joan Welch of Corinth. Preceding her in death were sisters, Nellie May Yates of Inglewood, Calif., Mary Louise Yates of Sapulpa, Okla., and Cecil Harris Yates of Texana, Texas; and brothers, William Thomas Yates, Luther Hull Yates, and John Franklin Yates all of Sapulpa, Okla.; and a beloved niece, Hattie Dyer of Inglewood, Calif., and a host of close friends and acquaintances. An international traveler, Mrs. Bailey and her friends traveled to Japan, China, Spain, Thailand and many Caribbean Cruises, just to name a few . She was a true lady and friend to everyone whose life she touched whether they be young or old. A Memorial Service will be held Friday Sept. 2, 2005, at 12 o'clock at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Ballard Road , exit 161/2 mile East with the Rev. Patti Girard officiating. A repass will be celebrated immediately after the Service in the Church's Dining Hall. Published in the Post-Star from 8/28/2005 - 8/30/2005. Fredette, Bradley Kirk COSBY, Tenn. -- Bradley Kirk Fredette, 57, of Cosby, Tenn., died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, of heart failure. Brad was born July 15, 1948, at Glens Falls Hospital. He was the son of the late Chester W. Fredette and Alma (Howk) Fredette of Whitehall and Phoenix, Ariz. He graduated from Whitehall Hall School in 1966. Brad married Karen Bowser on July 19, 1974. Brad has one son, Patrick Fahringer of Catawissa, Pa. Bradley was a self-employed business owner, running a restaurant in Hudson Falls, and a landscaping company in Tallahassee, Fla. before settling in Cosby, Tenn., after being disabled by a heart attack. Brad loved life and enjoyed sports, traveling, and his family. In addition to his wife and son, Brad is survived by four siblings, Claire Bethel of Glens Falls, Dennis Fredette and wife, Susan, of Sandy, Utah, Albert E. Fredette and wife, Kay, of Glens Falls, and Bonnie Droddy and husband, David, of Stony Creek. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Rockwell Road, Queensbury, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. Price, Doris Jeanette TICONDEROGA -- Doris Jeanette Price, 83, of Price Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Syracuse, Oct. 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John R. and Bertha Mae (Graves) Benson. She was a graduate of the Crouse Irving Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse and was an enlisted U.S. Army-Air Corp nurse during World War II. She married Francis W. Price Sr. on July 7, 1945. Her husband passed away in 1998. Mrs. Price was a member of the former First Congregational Church of Ticonderoga and the Essex County Grange. She was employed as an Operating Room Nurse at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga for many years. She raised two children and worked with her family on the Price Farm on Hague Road until her death. Mrs. Price loved to watch the birds at her feeders, enjoyed the company of all those who came to visit and especially loved putting her feet in the ocean on a hot day. She also enjoyed playing scrabble with her sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Susan J. Valaitis and her husband, Victor, of Ballston Spa; one son, Francis W. Price Jr. and his wife, Patty, of Ticonderoga; two sisters, Marian Mereweather of Saratoga Springs, and Jean Brou of Slidell, La.; one sister-in-law, Eva Benson, wife of her deceased brother, John of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jennifer Martin and her husband, Kevin of Pennsylvania, Brian Price and his wife, Tracy, of Ticonderoga, Erica Harrington and her husband, Stephen, of Conn., John Valaitis and his wife, Jennifer, of Virginia, and Scott Price of Plattsburgh; and five great-grandchildren, Ryan, McKenzie, and Molly Price, Ethan Harrington and Amanda Martin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Mr. Elliott A. Shaw will officiate. QUEENSBURY -- Anne F. Sloper, 88, of Queensbury, passed away Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home Inc., in Fort Edward. Born Jan. 27, 1917, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Carl F. and Olive (Flierl) Filsinger. Following graduation from high school, Anne attended Beaver College in Pennsylvania. After her marriage, she summered with her children in Greenville, Maine. She first moved to Texas with her children in 1955, and returned to New York almost ten years ago, for good. During her time in Texas, she worked in business and public service, and founded community health clinics throughout the southwest. After her retirement, Anne actively volunteered for churches and spiritual communities, community hospice and Eldershare programs. In the last years of her life, she lived in Soloman Heights apartments and was frequently visited by her dear friends, neighbors, and prayer partners. Anne loved walking (or driving her scooter) in the woods, dancing, and cruising along Texas highways in her Oldsmobile Cutlass (her grandchildren referred to her as "the White Tornado"). Anne was a woman of deep and abiding faith, whose relationship to God was central to her life. Survivors include her two children with Erwin Sloper, Robert F. Sloper of Juneau, Alaska, and Sally S. Schuster and her husband, Robert F. Schuster, of Aurora, Colo.; and one sister, Barbara Beyerbach and her husband, George, of Queensbury also survives her. She was loved and will be missed by her three granddaughters, Lea Schuster and her partner, Kim Gillespie of Minneapolis, Minn., Tracie Sloper of Seattle, Wash., and Susan Woodruff of New Baden, Ill.; one niece, Barbara Beyerbach and her three children, Jason, Josh, and Leah; two nephews, Bill Beyerbach and his partner, Jennell Senoner, and his children, William and Brendan, Robert Beyerbach and his wife Rene‚ and their children, Kayla, Brian, Bryce and Annalise. She will be remembered at a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury with the Rev. Paul Wagner, pastor of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Glens Falls, officiating. At Anne's request, a private burial will be held at Warrensburg Cemetery. Wolff, Kenneth "Doc" Valley Falls, N.Y. -- Kenneth "Doc" Wolff, 91, died suddenly Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, at his residence following a short illness. Born June 26, 1914, in Easton, N.Y., he was the son of the late Albert and Eliza Lundey Wolff. He was the widower of Lucille M. Buckley, who died in 1997. Mr. Wolff was a life long dairy farmer on Wolff Farm. Doc was a member of the Dairymen League since 1945, a member of the Mason Lodge of Greenwich and the Washington County Soil Conservation Association, where he received several awards for conservation projects on his farm. He also was an avid hunter. Survivors include two sons, Theodore (Beth) I. Wolff of Greenwich and Fred J. Wolff of Valley Falls; one daughter, Sharon Trothier of Laconia, N.H.; one brother, Earl Wolff of Bennington; two sisters, Ruth Lundburg of Argyle, and Olive Southworth of Cambridge; six grandchildren; two great -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wolff was predeceased by his brothers, Albert and Robert Wolff and sisters, Viola Wolff, Mildred Sisler, and Isabelle Cairns. Relatives and friends may call at Chase Funeral Home, 173 Main St., Schaghticoke on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Chase Funeral Home.
