LAKE LUZERNE -- Edward J. Bange, age 80, of Allure Lane, died Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital. A complete obituary will appear in Sunday's edition of The Post-Star. Ekseth, Marie CROWN POINT -- Marie Ekseth, 83, of Crown Point, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga. Born in Milton, Vt., on Jan. 27, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Origene and Julia (Maynerd) Nadeau. Mrs. Ekseth was a resident of Crown Point since 1975. She was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church of Crown Point. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Oed Ekseth. There will be no calling hours A memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Crown Point. The Rev. William G. Muench, pastor, will officiate. Goss, USMC, Retired, 79, of Main Street, died at his home on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on March 10, 1925, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late James A. and Mary (Boyle) Goss. On May 16, 1953, he married Anna Marcantonio at St. Francis of Rome in the Bronx. Of all of his life's achievements, Mr. Goss was most proud of the years of dedicated service he provided to this country as a United States Marine. He enlisted during World War II at the age of 17. Over his military career, which spanned 42 years, he worked as a Marine Combat Correspondent and volunteered to serve in the South Pacific, where he spent some 24 months. He served again in Korea for a tour of duty lasting 18 months. He was chosen to attend Officer's Training School and achieved the rank of Captain. During his service he earned the prestigious Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and was also recognized for his expertise in riflery, among other honors. A great natural writer, Mr. Goss put his talents to work while serving in the military. From 1944 to 1952, he was editor of the Pendleton Scout, a weekly newspaper selected by Armed Forces Press Service as best letterpress newspaper. He also worked as an associate editor and feature writer for the publication, Leatherneck magazine for the Marines. There, he demonstrated his unique ability to articulate stories of military life, strategy, and weapons, exhibiting his expert knowledge of the subject matter with great style and finesse. Mr. Goss continued his career as a writer and public relations specialist. He ultimately worked for International Paper Co. and Albany International, from where he retired. He became a life member of the United States Marine Corps Combat Correspondent's Association, where he and his wife were attendees at the Marine Corp Combat Correspondent's Conference every year, traveling to such places as San Diego, Las Vegas and Annapolis, Md. In addition to being a devoted patriot, Mr. Goss was a man with great passion for music, literature and dance. In particular, he shared a passion for the New York City Ballet with his wife, both generous supporters and enthusiasts of the New York City Ballet and SPAC. He had the honor of serving as a founding member of the Lake George Opera Festival Board, where he had an opportunity to share his love of the opera with the local community. He also enjoyed skiing, hiking and camping with his family. Mr. Goss spent many weekends volunteering his time as a member of the Gore Mountain Ski patrol when his children were school aged. In addition to these activities, Mr. Goss possessed an uncommon intellect and was well versed in a variety of academic and popular subjects. Almost religiously, he started and finished the New York Times Crossword puzzle each Sunday, in pen, to the amazement of his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime friend and aunt, Eileen Jarvis. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Anna (Marcantonio) Goss of Hudson Falls, eight children: Eileen Whelley and her husband, Donald of Wilton, Conn., James Goss and his wife, Cynthia Preston, of Lewis, Peggy Limmer and her husband, Hal, of South Glens Falls, Myles Goss and his wife, Margaret, of Wynantskill, Mary Cardinale of Queensbury, Kathleen Dybala and her husband, Bob, of New York City, Sheila Goss-Duerr and her husband, Michael, of Glens Falls and Kevin Goss of Glens Falls; his beloved grandchildren: Natalie Whelley, Stevie Whelley, Ambrose Goss, Emile Goss, Tobiah Goss, Elizabeth Limmer, Kaitlin Limmer, Daniel Goss, Rebecca Arellano, Jennifer Arellano, Jordan Cardinale, Kevin Cardinale, Olivia Cefalu, Ned Dybala and Lily Duerr; a sister, Doris Goss of Newport, R.I.; and an uncle, the Rev. Francis Goss of Brockton, Mass.; and many cousins in the Boston area. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6, at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls. Francis Goss, concelebrating. The Rite of Committal, with full military honors, will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Veteran's Cemetery in the town of Stillwater. Published in the Post-Star on 2/5/2005. Hallock, Rose Marie TICONDEROGA -- Rose Marie Hallock, 56, of Ticonderoga, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at her residence. Born in Ticonderoga, May 24, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Crossman) Holman. Mrs. Hallock was a lifetime Ticonderoga resident and a friend to many people. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post No. 224 of Ticonderoga. She was very devoted to the organization and was involved in helping children in the area, and also veterans serving in Iraq. She also was a member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks No. 1494 of Ticonderoga. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas St. Andrews, and also her second husband, Raymond Hallock. Survivors include three sons: Thomas E. Holman of Ticonderoga, Charles F. Holman of Port Henry, and Raymond D. Holman of Crown Point; one daughter, Eva M. St. Andrews of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Richard Holman of Whitehall and Robert Holman of Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Linda Holman and Janice Holman, both of Ticonderoga. Mehling, Eleanor Alice GREENWICH -- Eleanor Alice Mehling, 102, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, peacefully in her sleep. Born Sept. 7, 1902, in Southampton, England, she was the daughter of Alice and Louis Mehling. Eleanor was in her twenties when she came to America. She worked as a Nanny raising two girls to adulthood. She then worked at Republic Aviation as a riveter for the war effort during World War II. After the soldiers returned she lost her job, and went to work for AT&T until she retired at age 65. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors are her devoted nieces, Claudia Blackler of Cambridge, Lorraine Zweighaft of Glendale, Calif. and Joanne Budler of Hilliard, Ohio. She is also survived by many other nieces, great nieces and nephews, as well as great-great- nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. A special thank you to all the staff and residents of the Cambridge Guest Home, where Eleanor resided for eight years. Morris, 64, formerly of Rock City Road, Ballston Spa, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Maplewood Manor. Born in Rock City Falls on June 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Frances Emigh. Suzan worked at Ballston Knitting Mill for 26 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Victory Bible Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. Suzan was predeceased by a sister, Donna Murtlow and a brother, Richard Emigh. Shaw, 91, formerly of Seminary Street, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. Born on Oct. 11, 1913, in Fort Edward, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Emma (Rabine) Roberts. Her first husband, Leo Bouler, passed away May 7, 1956, and her second husband, Howard Shaw, also predeceased her. Mrs. Shaw worked at the General Electric Co. in Fort Edward. She retired in 1976. She attended St. Joseph's Church in Fort Edward. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia A. Shaver, who passed away Feb. 5, 1988, and two sisters, Helen Wilkins and Lillian Norman. Survivors include her grandchildren: Deborah Schmidt and her husband, Robert, of Queensbury, Henry Shaver and his wife, Tina, of Queensbury and Christopher Shaver and his wife, Kimberly, of Wilton; eight great-grandchildren: Todd Bartholomew, Jill Bartholomew, Joseph Bartholomew, Christopher Schmidt, Shannon Shaver, Tanya Shaver, Emily Shaver and Rachel Shaver; four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Baird and her husband, Walter, of Ocala, Fla., and Norma Brunell of Fort Edward; several nieces, including her favorite, Dar, and nephews and cousins. Tucker, George LAKE GEORGE -- George Tucker, age 54, of Harris Avenue, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 2, 2005, at Saratoga Hospital. Born on Oct. 18, 1950, in Corinth, he was the son of Judy (Treanor) Tucker Dingman and the late Myron Tucker. He attended Hadley Luzerne Central School. George served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one campaign star, Good Conduct Medal and a sharpshooter commendation. He was a member of the William J. Varney American Legion Post No. 862 Lake Luzerne. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR races. He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Ronald Tucker and one sister, Nancy Beach. Survivors include his mother, Judy Dingman and her husband, Loren, of Lake Luzerne; one son, George Day Tucker of South Carolina; five siblings: Linda Springer of Tampa, Fla,. Myron Tucker Jr. and his wife, Paula, of Broadalbin, Susan Hoelscher and her husband, John, of Wharton, Texas, Joann Tucker of Glens Falls, and Geraldine Kelley of Pelzer, S.C.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne. Burial with full military honors will be at Gerald B.H.
