Born on May 9, 1943, in Castleton, N.Y., he was the son of the late Walter and Sarah (Doran) Bailey. He moved to Indian Lake in March of 1985. Good food, music and spending time with close friends were some of his favorite pastimes. Bob is survived by two cousins, Joel Nixon and his family of Tucson, Ariz., and John Doran of Freehold, N.J., many friends and staff of the Pelon Road IRA and the Speculator Day Habilitation Program. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Indian Lake, with the Rev. Sony Pulickal, pastor, officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church Hall. Bob will be laid to rest in the family plot in Philadelphia, Pa. Friends are invited back to the IRA house on Pelon Road following the funeral Mass for refreshments and remembrance. Bob touched the hearts of all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Bearor, Ruth Elizabeth (Mann) FORT ANN -- Ruth Elizabeth (Mann) Bearor went into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at Eden Park Nursing Home, with her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Anne Bearor, at her side. Ruth was born March 13, 1918, in Jefferson, N.Y., the daughter of Ward and Maude (Stewart) Mann. She attended school in Cobleskill, and graduated from Fort Ann Central School on June 27, 1938. Right after graduation, Ruth married Davis Clayton Bearor at the parsonage on June 30, 1938. Ruth and her husband made their home on Goodman Road, town of Fort Ann, where they operated and worked together on their dairy farm until Davis retired. Ruth and Davis were married for 60 years when Davis passed away on Oct. 14, 1998. Ruth was a very active member of the United Protestant Church of Fort Ann. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting and her rose garden. Ruth is survived by her son, Gerald D. Bearor and his wife, Anne of Fort Ann; a daughter, Jaunita Haviland of Fort Ann; her grandchildren: Connie Dudley and her husband, David, of California, Cathy Haviland of Tennessee, Brian Bearor and his wife, Cathy, of Florida, and Matthew Bearor and his wife, Debbie, of Glens Falls; great-grandchildren: Timothy Haviland, Hannah Dudley, Elizabeth and Caroline Bearor, and Brandon Bearor; one sister, Elda Terry of Cobleskill; and several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Eden Park, especially the third floor nurses and aides, for their kindness and wonderful care they gave to Ruth. We also thank High Peaks Hospice, and Hospice volunteers, for their over, above, and beyond care and support to both Ruth and her family. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Mason Funeral Home, 18 George St., Fort Ann, with the Rev. Brooke Newell, pastor of the United Protestant Church of Fort Ann, officiating. Carty, Winifred (Wells) VERNON, Conn. -- Winifred (Wells) Carty, 89, of Vernon, Conn., widow of Thomas R. Carty, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at home. Born June 4, 1915, in Hydeville, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Richard and Winifred Wells, and was a Vernon, Conn., resident for many years. She had been a cook at Rockville High School and was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Rockville, Conn. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Susan Carty of Glens Falls, Thomas and Elaine Carty of Vernon, Conn., and William and Andrea Carty of Vernon, Conn.; her brother, Robert Wells of Glens Falls; her grandchildren: Eileen Hall, Michael Carty, David Carty, Maureen McIntyre, Steven Carty, Rebecca Carty, and Erin Carty; her great-grandchildren: Dylan Hall, Hayley McIntyre, and Tess McIntyre. Cote, 75, a longtime resident of Glens Falls, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, from natural causes while at a hospital near his home in Denver, Colo. Born on Nov. 25, 1929, in Glens Falls, he was the first of four sons born to the late Reginald and Irene (Baldwin) Cote. Bob grew up in Glens Falls and enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1948. He served until July 1952 before returning to his hometown of Glens Falls. During the next 30 years, he helped raise a family of six children and was an active member of the community. Mr. Cote was a fireman with the Glens Falls City Fire Department, a school bus driver with the Hudson Falls School District, and a facility caretaker for Dr. Daniel O'Keefe. In 1982, he decided to move to the Denver, Colo., area and joined the PayLess-Cashways Home Centers as a home improvement specialist. He worked with their stores in Denver and in Las Vegas before retiring in 1991. Mr. Cote was an avid baseball fan and spent many afternoons at Coors Field watching the Colorado Rockies. He enjoyed NASCAR, fiddling with his extensive model railroad and countryside display he built, and collecting state quarters. He is survived by his six children: Bob Cote of Glens Falls, Kathy Brown of Aurora, Colo.; Debbie Brewer, Cindy Bapp, and John Cote, all of Glens Falls, and Barb Holmes of Greenfield Center. Mr. Cote was blessed with 13 grandchildren: Katie Russo, Rob Brown, Courtney Russo, Joseph Cote, Tara Cote, Michael Canale, Jessica Affinito, Kaleigh Cote, Emily Bapp, Donald Bapp, John Philip Cote, and Sean and Lilly Holmes; as well as two great-grandchildren, Trinity Cote and Anthony Girard. He is also survived by his three brothers: Richard Cote of South Carolina, Ronald Cote of Glens Falls, and Leo Cote of Hudson Falls. Pratt, age 71, of Pleasantview Drive, went into the arms of our Lord Thursday evening, Feb. 17, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 18, 1933, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Harold and Gladys (Phelps) Pratt. Gilbert served in the United States Air Force. He married Louise E. Lyons on Sept. 4, 1955, at St. Mary's Church, Glens Falls. He was employed for 35 years at General Electric in Hudson Falls, retiring as foreman in 1989. Gilbert was a founding member of the Moreau Emergency Squad and a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Corinth. He loved the outdoors and in earlier years enjoyed hunting. Above all, Gilbert was a true family man. He enjoyed weekend picnics at their home on the Hudson River, where he patiently taught many children how to water ski. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who was always ready to help with any project that may need to be done. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred Pratt and Jim Pratt. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Louise Pratt; two daughters, Sheila Hughes and her husband, Raymond, of Colonie, and Lisa Fedele and her fianc‚, Steve Klempa, of Queensbury; two sons, Timothy Pratt and his wife, Nancy, of Moreau, and Robert Pratt, and his wife, Cynthia, of Queensbury; six grandchildren: Jessica Hughes, Scott Hughes, Marissa Fedele, Michael Pratt, Alek Pratt and Samuel Pratt; one great-grandson, Kadyn Hughes; his stepmother, Amy Pratt of Wilton; three sisters: Kathryn Stewart of Saratoga Springs, Helen Jepsen and her husband, Eric, of Lompoc, Calif., and Carol Lynskey and her husband, Bill, of Utica; three brothers: Lawrence Pratt and his wife, Frances, of Mississippi, Harry Pratt of Watervliet, and Bruce Pratt and his wife, Christine, of South Glens Falls; his sisters-in-law, Carol Villa and her husband, Jim, of Lake Luzerne, Mary Morey of South Glens Falls, Josephine Pratt of Greenfield Center, and Lois Pratt of Saratoga Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Published in the Post-Star on 2/19/2005. Shattuck, Kay L. LAKE LUZERNE -- Kay L. Shattuck, 67, of Call Street, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at her home following a short illness. Born on Jan. 14, 1938, in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late Kin and Hazel (Emery) Allison. Mrs. Shattuck graduated from Corinth High School. She married Albert T. "Tim" Shattuck Jr., on Aug. 17, 1956, in Corinth. The couple had resided in Lake Luzerne for many years. He died July 31, 1996, following 40 years of marriage. Mrs. Shattuck enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, and mostly being with her family. Besides her husband and her parents, one daughter, Crystal Mosher, and two brothers, Douglas Allison and Frelain Allison, all died before her. Survivors include three daughters: Amanda Mosher and her husband, Kim, of Hudson Falls, Faith Shattuck of Inlet, and Amber Randall and her husband, Jeff, of Lake Luzerne; two sons, Timothy Paul Shattuck of Lake Luzerne and Luke Shattuck of Lake Luzerne; two brothers, Donald Allison and his wife, Marie, of Athol, and Joe Allison and his wife, Jane, of Lake Luzerne; six sisters: Jean Chandler and her husband, Eugene, of Porter Corners, Sandra Allison of Corinth, Martha Williams and her husband, David, of Corinth, Susan Smith and her husband, Claude, of Florida, Hope Lynn Bovee and her husband, pastor Jerry, of Mount Upton and Clare Washburn and her husband, Hod, of Lake Luzerne; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private graveside service will be held later in the spring at Corinth Rural Cemetery, with the Rev. Judith Humphrey-Fox, pastor of the Spirit of Life United Methodist Church of South Corinth, officiating. Stone, 74, died Friday morning, Feb. 18, 2005, at Glens Falls Hospital due to complications of Parkinson's Disease. Born on Aug. 4, 1930, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Clifford O. and Carrie L. (Raymond) Stone. After graduating from Warrensburg Central School where he received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award, Douglas attended Albany College of Pharmacy, achieving a bachelor of science degree. While in high school, Douglas played varsity football and baseball and was considered to be outstanding in basketball. He was a significant contributor on championship teams in both football and basketball. Douglas once set the Saratoga Convention Hall sectional scoring record in basketball. He played on his college basketball team, and in 1976, was named to the Albany College of Pharmacy Sports Hall of Fame, the second alumnus to be inducted. On Sept. 6, 1952, Douglas married his high school sweetheart, Beatrice A. Magee, in Lake Pleasant. He was employed as a pharmacist in Warrensburg for one year before purchasing Millward's Pharmacy in Lake Luzerne, in 1953, renaming it Stone's Pharmacy. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1992. Douglas sold it to his longtime partner, Robert K. Fosberry. Being an active athlete all his life, Douglas enjoyed tennis, skiing and golf. He was an original investor in the Queensbury Tennis Club, and was also an original investor/member of the Bend of the River Golf Course in Hadley. Douglas was an active communicant of the Church of the Holy Infancy, and served on the Parish Finance Committee. He was a member of the Lake Luzerne Chamber of Commerce and for many years was active in the Lion's Club. Also, he served on the advisory board of the State Bank of Albany. Douglas will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Although he was widely recognized as a successful pharmacist and businessman, he will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband, a wonderful dad and a fun-loving grandpa. Low key and even-tempered, Douglas lived his life with a fair mind and a friendly smile, earning the respect of everyone he met. His wife of 52 years, Beatrice Stone, survives him along with their two sons and three daughters. Surviving sons are, Daniel Stone and his wife, Yvette, of Corinth, and Gregory Stone and his wife, Christine, of Schroon Lake; daughters are Kathleen Randall and her husband, Robert, of Queensbury, Clare Stone and her husband, Martin Wencek, of Wakefield, R.I., and Valerie Stahl and her husband, James, of Moriah. Also surviving is one sister, Joyce Frulla and her husband, Robert, of Gainesville, Va.; nine grandchildren: Justin and Larissa Randall, Travis, Kendra and Tanner Stone, Kira and Calder Wencek, Madison and Joseph Stahl; three stepgrandchildren: Casey, Tyson and Katie O'Connell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Infancy, Lake Luzerne, with the Rev. Charles A. Gaffigan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Holy Infancy Cemetery, Lake Luzerne. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Brewer Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Church St., Lake Luzerne.
